Nice to see we are at the Lawson Crouse is the answer to our prayers part of the off-season.

Not a bad 4th line player. But not worth giving up assets for. Look for a similar play in free agency.

Elliotte Friedman says the only untouchable Flyer is Farabe, so Provorov, Hart, Patrick, Konecny and their 1st would all be interesting in some ways.
My understanding is Provorov was Hunters second choice after Marner.
Marner for Provorov and Hart?
Move Rielly for a forward to replace Marner?

Saw a trade rumor on an nhl trade rumor page on Facebook so take it with a grain of salt but it suggested that the Leafs are looking at making a trade with Sharks involving Rielly and Evander Kane. Thoughts?

His play style would be a good compliment to a line with Tavares and Nylander with his speed, physicality and shot but his off ice stuff could be an issue here in Toronto.
I can’t imagine that’s something they consider.

If you want Marner traded, then you guys should just root for the leafs to fail again.
Nah, I want Marner traded but I want a Konecny or Garland ++ package

Imagine somehow flipping Marner + Dermott for Garland and Chychrun, this team would be so sick

Yeah, trading a top 5 winger for a 2nd liner and an injury prone defenceman on a hot shooting streak is definitely going to make the team better and not a lot worse.

Free agency hasn't worked. What you get is washed up vets. Foligno, Vesey and Simmonds have been utter flops

You are going to give up assets. Why not? We are in win mode and you have up few for foligno.

Players like Crouse will come cheap. There are few players in the league u can target

Players like him seems to be the answer for Boston with Richie and Martin for Islanders

They have no problem playing them

If all they do is make changes around the edges, this team is going to receive a major reality check next season. You can see it from a mile away.

Tampa, Florida, and Boston are all equal or better than them. Montreal won't be a pushover either.

Adding a couple of 3rd and 4th liners is nice if the team was returning to the North division. But in its current state, this team will be fighting for its life in the Atlantic let alone winning a round in the playoffs.

I'd take Crouse. He's not the answer to our problems but he's a big boy who has scored 15 in a season on a team that doesn't score. I take the gamble if he comes cheap, and throw him on the 2nd or 3rd line.

I'm not sold on Florida or Boston, at least in the regular season.

But yeah we're likely getting booted in the first round again, if we even make it.

I'd like to see a major shakeup, but doubt it happens.

Apparently CJ eluded to us grabbing a scoring winger from an american team that didnt make playoffs. He said this on the Dangle podcast.

People are speculating that its Konecny. That's 5.5 for a struggling, small winger. What would we give up?

And when it does happen again the media + fanbase will be demanding firing of the entire management group.

Boston - traded Seguin, Kessel and Hamilton
Colorado - traded Duchene
Tampa - traded Bishop, JT Miller, Drouin and St Louis
Chicago - traded Teravainen, Panarin, Saad and Byfuglien
Pittsburgh - traded Staal, Perron, and Neal

You make the traded you have to to win.

He did that on a 13.8% shooting percentage when his career average is 8.8%. Not counting on that happening again.

Realistic expectation is you are getting Crouse from 2 years ago. 10 goals, 25-30 points. Size. However his defensive game is below average, and his skating is average at best. You can find those guys (or better versions of it) in UFA all of the time for relatively cheap cost (Corey Perry, Wayne Simmonds sans injuries, Goodrow is a better version, etc.).

If you are adding guys like him to the lineup, you have at most one... Our problem is we added multiple and slowed down the entire bottom half of our lineup.

Our best playoff performers were JVR and Kessel unless you want to go back to the Sundin days

The ideal destination for Marner is an NHL city starving for a young star forward. The Kings and Ducks don't have that player. Maybe Dallas, maybe St. Louis, definitely Detroit, San Jose and New Jersey. Who can make the best offer for this class of forward?

You also have DeBrincat in Chicago who makes 6.
Small playoff sample size but scores 30 goals.

If you could somehow get heis from dallas ( you can't) that would be highway robbery. I fully expect that kid to be a hofer.

I don't think the initial quote specified scoring winger. Just on an American non-playoff team, with term, and a notable name with "promise"

In any case if you take all his comments at face value it's a hard puzzle to put together. Big 4 up front stay, Rielly stays, where's the cap coming for this Mystery player, and who is going the other way?

All I can come up with is
A- under 3-3.5 million (Hintz, Lindblom)
B- retention ??
C- Muzzin gone? (Dvorak, Konecny, etc)

Lindblom could be a solid move if he's fully recovered
