On the CJ thing, I'm going to guess it's an older player with some salary retention.

  • Logan Couture
  • Jakub Voracek
  • JVR
  • Matt Duchene
  • Steven Stamkos
  • Brayden Schenn
  • JT Miller
I'd add Kuznetsov to the list but I don't think they'd want that kind of guy near the team.

Perhaps a little but players like Martin, Clifford, Muzzin, Bogosian seem(ed) to have less sandpaper playing for the Leafs.
Or you just envisioned those players being tougher than they actually were because you never saw them play enough? Thats exactly what it is.

I want the Leafs to get their hands on Boris Katchouk. He's in the Tampa system right now and I think they would be absolutely idiotic to let him walk but I think he's the type of player that we need. He's got grit, size, skill, speed and isn't afraid to mix it up or crash the net.

Wow i forgot he existed until now. He was an absolute force for the Soo Greyhounds.

He will be 23 next year without an NHL game played so who knows what his value is. His AHL numbers are good. And he is an RFA. Looks like he can be a solid bottom 6 player.

JT Miller interests me, legit top 6 player who can also play centre and not miss a beat. Manageable cap hit for us and Canucks need to shed some salary.

I think they’d be crazy to move him, but this is Jim Benning we’re talking about.

I think Tampa moves Killorn and Johnson then promotes Katchouk/Raddysh. They’re in cap hell and need those ELC as much as any team.

Nobody said they’re ignoring them. I literally said the coaches and staff will take every bit of data you can put in front of them when they’re scouting or in the video room. ...but to suggest stats are what they’re using to evaluate or discover players is silly..

...but once again the simple point flys way over your head.

People across the league are laughing at how much the Leafs rely on stats to evaluate players.

Literally laughing at the Three Stooges.

This was documented in the article from The Athletic that was posted here a couple weeks ago and quoted NHL executives.

The Bruins just play hard with a certain amount of confidence/swagger from having won and enjoy the competition and the feeling of winning.

The Leafs feel like they've built themselves up into the team of destiny into their own heads and just crumble under expectations.
Mental midgets.

The Nucks owners are actually fans and want to make a splash. I could a trade involving Marner and Reilly for Miller, Schimt and a few picks.

I think Vancouver management would absolutely like to make a splash like this. So would every other team in the league if they're getting more for less. This isn't a serious suggestion is it?

It doesn’t surprise me. I know a number of people who know the business pretty well but aren’t Leaf fans who’ve been laughing since the day Dubas was hired.

Leaf haters were uncomfortable with that team of 8 rookies who fought Washington hard for 6 games when nobody gave them a chance to be there, or even make the playoffs.

The team was on a great trajectory until they inexplicably made changes at the top and went a different direction. Down.

This was all very predictable.

I found myself thinking the same thing last night. Underdogs heavy on heart and grit? Sign me up.
Yeah. Down 2-1, biggest game of their season and they come with their best.. and man, Barzal. He’s targeted from the start, speared in the nuts and abused all series but he finds a way to overcome and score the clutch goal.

What a player. 3rd straight years he’s elevated his game in the playoffs.

I wonder what he makes?

I am not as impressed with Barzal as some are, but I also don't immediately compare him to Marner like some do. However, the whole lineup has such balance, and it shows. I love the culture they have developed down there.

The article literally says they use analytics to evaluate players . Perhaps actually read first before replying.

Can you show me any evidence of analytics being a heavy part of their decision making? ...or are you again just talking out of your ass? Given how many times I’ve done this with you, I know what I’d bet on.

Yeah, it’s odd. Both Barzal and Marner are pretty unique players who’re tough to compare to anyone but most certainly eachother.

...and I agree about the culture. It’s so important. Seems to be the one constant among most successful professional sports franchises.

Did YOU read their roles and job description? They provide the data to the decision makers, literally just as I said.

Holy shit

I'd imagine the Cannucks will be fairly open to trades this off-season.

You literally claimed teams like Vegas weren't using analytics in player evaluation..... What do you think the coaches and GM are doing with the information their stats guys provide them with?

This is going around in circles
