Bertuzzi based on his laat year + year before that where he wasnt that good

Is fair value at 4M x 4-5years

A discount is 3.25M x 6 type deal

If he gives that props to him

A 4.75M x 6 deal isnt any discount, its a premium for a player who has had struggles last 2 years but brings playoff style play which is good to keep (was a top 4 forward along with Domi and 88 and 34 in that shit series vs the bruins)

Obviously the pick difference is a bit higher than ours. But kinda hoping Brad pulls off a similar deal today to get more picks.
The Habs are definitely in tne phase of the rebuild where they need to shed some picks and prospects. You can only accumulate so much before they start to cannibalize themselves.

Another team paying a premium to move up a few picks in a range where they have no clue who will be available. Bizarre. Wish we were the one taking advantage of this.

I agree in principle. But that has never really worked out for us.

Trading back for dermott and Bracco from the konecny pick (who knows if we take him)

Trading back for Minten to get rid of Marzek doesn’t look great.

I wanted Toronto to trade back instead of taking cowan early last year. But glad we didn’t risk it.

Is there a time Toronto has traded back and the extra asset turned out? I can’t think of one

Perhaps one option is to sign marner to a league wise reasonable deal (which may not be possible) and give him a limited ntc rather nmc. Then if he doesn't perform under berube in the playoff trade him when the extension kicks in.
The problem is that Matthews and Nylander have NMCs. He wouldn't accept anything different.

While I like the ideas I don't see Marner waiving to go to a somewhere that's smaller than Mississauga, but nowhere near as nice

Sign Lindholm and Roy, Tavares moves permanently to 3c next season with a 4 mill cap hit. We have the wingers to replace domi and bertuzzi. What we need is a center and a d to pair with Reilly.

I hesitated to post this... given there will be a bunch of people who think we should give up assets for a C, that's as old as Tavares, and they believe he plays the right way, despite the reason Shanahan and co shipped him out as he was a problem player in the organization for years. Hopefully we don't have to get into the history of Kadri again... anyway... always liked him, understand why he'll never play for a Shanahan team again... best of luck with the rebuild Calgary, who hates us anyway... and good luck to Kadri in Boston, being a pain in our butts.
