How long before they move this guy to right wing.
It’s the off-season, it’s time for this kind of idea.
He took some reps there last year.
Move Calle, lineup Dewar-Kampf-Timmins, specialist line with two penalty killers and a PP option at the point or big dude in front of the net.
Good idea, obviously the guy can’t play defence, maybe he can play wing…….

Brodie $5 mil
Giordano $0.8 mil
Kling $4.15 mil

So actually it was $9.95 mil invested in those three D, at the start of the year... that Kling went on LTIR, is irrelevant to what the Leafs started out with.

By the way, the player's name is Timmins... like the city.
Can Klingberg even be counted, since he went to Robidas Island and didn’t count against the cap?

Let’s make some deals with Jarnkrok, Kampf, Liljegren and Timmins all finding new homes.
Only UFA’s I’d be interested in would be A.Nylander and Cousins.

Ideally Marner is dealt too…

Reports out there indicated Trotz was interested, now it would be a little more difficult to make happen. Nashville would have to send back equal salary…(maybe not all to us)

Novak/Sissons
Evangelista
Tomasino
Fabbro/Schenn
Askarov

For

Marner
Robertson

Novak is probably the furthest thing away from being a Treliving/Berube type player.

Dallas and VGK still make the most sense. Both would have to use a 3rd team (Anaheim or Chicago) to retain 50%. Both teams can afford to extend Marner and are no income tax states so in theory can sign Marner for cheaper.
Don't forget Columbus as a sneaky option unless he puts them on his no list. Getting to play with Fantilli could be enticing and they do got some nice pieces/prospects and a lot of cap space.

Day 1, he counted against the cap... he prevented us from signing other players... so yes.

I keep seeing you post this Colorado trade, but never explain why Colorado wants to trade one of their three signed healthy Centers, leaving them with two?????

He hasn't done anything in the playoffs for basically 3-4 years now, useless when it comes to big boy hockey.
Fair enough comment... if we can upgrade, let's do it.. but there isn't a single UFA left who would be an upgrade.... and I'm seeing a proposal to trade him for Brandon Tanev... and he isn't really an upgrade in the playoffs either... 14 points in 46 games... and I appreciate Tanev does other things.

If we are going to upgrade... great... but, let's actually upgrade....

Basically you upgrade physically and still get a pk presence and the contract is over a year sooner than Jarnkrok so salary cap flexibility but 2.1M vs 3.5M

For shits and giggles because Waddell is in charge over there:

Marner to Columbus for Marchenko, Sillinger, 2026 1st (top 10 protected)

Columbus gets an impact player for their top group that, after signing Monahan, can help push them to a playoff spot sooner.

The Leafs get two young RFA's - a big bodied 20-goal winger, and a young centre, to fill needs now and in the future .. also adding a future 1st into the mix. Along with cap savings that can be used to upgrade the blue line now or in the future.

It's the waiving thing, not sure he waives for Cbus.

Extended/willing to extend Marner for Necas+Nikishin (if they offer a 2nd round pick or greater / won't budge on Nikishin) - done

Extended/willing to extend Marner for Karlsson, Korczak, 2027 1st or 2025/26 2nd

Not overly concerned about the loss of of Bertuzzi because the Leafs have Knies, Bobby Mac and Robertson and all scored at least 14 goals last season and I think they can all hit 20 next year assuming they all come out of camp healthy.

And yes I know Nick Robertson doesn't want to be here but he also has no leverage so f*** him.

But if they do decide to trade him there are still some interesting forward options still available.

Dominik Kubalik didn't go well in Ottawa but scored 30 in Chicago and 20 in Detroit plus 17 goals in the shortened 56 game season

Daniel Sprong 18 goals last season 20 the year before and he did it in limited icetime.

Vrana, there is just so much talent with Vrana.

Roslovic, Roslovic can #lay center which allows Domi to move to the wing and solve the top 6 winger issue.
Sens fan here coming in peace. One of the issues with the Sens last year was not enough playmakers, too many finishers (Kubalik, Tank, Norris, Pinto). The only playmakers were Giroux, Stutzle and Batherson: Kubalik never played with any of them. Many games, he was centered by Chartier (AHL center) and Tank, another finisher. Tank had a better year because he got PP2 time and after Jacques Martin returned as the coach, he played on the 2nd line. Kubalik was on 3rd or 4th line. By the end of the season, I think he was so discouraged that he couldn't get anything going. He's got a great shot. If he plays with a playmaker, then I see him rebounding. Because of his terrible year last year, I imagine he'd be cheap.

If he would go there. They would absolutely be the best fit.

Johnny hockey/monahan
Fantilli/marner

Tons of prospects.

It would work

More likely I would say Vegas. They have terrible wingers

Carolina I could totally see a necas for Marner at 775k deal.

But Seattle still has the best opening in my mind. All the peices we need and a legit shot to be in the playoffs.

Would he sit in Vancouver?

On the topic of Kubalik .. he might be one of the only UFA's left I've had a ton of interest in. Him or Patches.
Kubalik, Pearson, Sprong and Blais

Pearson and Blais with Dewar make a nice 4th line

Kubalik Holmberg Sprong gives some secondary scoring on a 3rd line
