Like that deal for the Panthers. The Blackhawks didn't do to bad either. Retaining for 5 years is a big chunk of money.

From the Treliving presser, it doesn't sound like they are interested in adding anyone big with term right now & doesn't sound like they have an apatite to add a "big name" as they think it doesn't always work out. Will probably be a 2nd teir C and a depth d-man for minor pieces.

He's not wrong from that sense. IMO I'm always fan of adding way before the deadline to give the player some time to adjust to everything. A lot of the time the deadline piece doesn't play the greatest.

Panthers have another deal lined up for a goalie or are they going with one of their minor leaguers?

Panthers just place Tkachuk on LTIR ...

Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers have placed forward Matthew Tkachuk on long-term injured reserve, according to multiple reports on Sunday.

TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston adds that Tkachuk's injury could sideline him for the remainder of the regular season.

So they'll be adding a big name player, question is what will they use for trade bait?

They traded a young roster player with upside. The blackhawks are taking on 5 years of retention. They need something significant back . On the leafs that’s Knies or Woll.

Knies >>>> Knight

Knight’s value is no where near the value of Knies.

He’s a 22 year old power forward on pace for 30 goals. Every team is looking for this player.

The point was originally panthers showed you don’t need many assets to make a trade. I said they traded a young upside roster player that’s how they made it. That’s like leafs trading woll or Knies.

I could see Florida adding a center, and a goalie with Tkachuk's cap, but if we make these types of moves on paper we are just as good if not better than the Panthers....i would argue we are better and have more depth in a 7-game series

As of right now we are not in a good position at all.....who's going to cover Tkachuk & Bennett? We need to add players like Tolvanen & Schenn guys that are physical and can still produce offensively. If we compare our current roster oouf its bad, not to mention if we play them it will be in round 2, adding players so we have depth is huge!
I strongly believe if we make the right trades this roster can win the cup, but we dont have a year to waste....big decisions come in the offseason, we need to go all in! Ship those picks and low prospects out.

Kampf = Tkachuk
Dewar = Bennett
Timmins = Jones
Benoit = Kulikov

As for people saying we need goals haha, that's false we need physical players with skill too cover there best players so our top players can get the right matchups and focus on offense! Its why Gretzky was so successful....if we have Marner, Nylander, Tavares, Matthews having to cover guys like Tkachuk, Bennett yeah say bye to there offensive game...this is what makes teams like Florida successful

This isn't really a TDL move. But we really have to get rid of Jarnkrok/Reaves/Domi/Kampf. 9.5m for a bunch of meh. could be your built in Knies extension plus two 4th liners in the offseason like a Frederic + Tanev

Domi and Jarnkrok will be effective come playoffs for there cap hit of 5.850M we get quite a bit of value and fill two roster spots in the bottom6.

Both of these guys might not be crazy offensively(avg.40-80pts year) but they are players you want on youre team in a 7game playoff series....as for Reaves & Kampf yeah send them away for upgrades 100%

Domi has been fine in the playoffs lately but Jarnkrok is absolutely not a playoff player.

I just don't really see a fit for Jarnkrok. Are you benching Robertson or McMann over him? Unless you are putting him on the 4th line. Maybe he comes in and slots in on line 2 with Tavares and Nylander. Holmberg moves down the line up.

McMann-Tavares-Jarnkrok was very good last year in limited minutes and I'd like to see it recreated but then you're leaving Nylander on an island.

Evander Kane on the market. 5.1 cap hit. Left wing is not really an area of need, but I wouldn't mind him at the right price. Still a 20+ goal-scorer with some grit when healthy.

Lol are you good brother?
Bobrovsky is listed as a goalie
Tkachuk is under right wing and Forsling on right defense🤣

Can we guilt Dubas into giving us Rakell?

It’s the least he can do after all his dumbassery that we are still digging our way out of.

Maybe we can resign Malgin so we can send him back in the other direction to reunite with Kyle Magoobas……

Its obvious our main issues are right hand shots on offense and defense, plus our lack of blocked shots/hits.

Im not sure why the media keeps saying we need a center & goals🤣
we actually need two pf/twf wingers and two shutdown right defenseman.
Compare our current centers to any team in the east that we could play in the playoffs, that's not the position we lack skill or depth atm.

To be successful this year we need to find players that can give Tkachuk & Bennett a hard time, without being a complete slug on offense.

If we're going off this year and previous years leaders in hits/ppg, our options are:

Offense
Tolvanen
O'Reilly
Tanev
Toffoli
McBain
Maroon
Hathaway
Gallagher
Anderson
Palmieri
Bunting
B.Schenn

Leaders in blocked shots/hits
Defense
L.Schenn
Gudas
Murphy
Cole
Trouba
Seeler
Savard
Oleksiak
Larsson
Matheson
