A perfect "onestopshop" would be Calgary - Andersson+Backlund with the needed retention.

We'd most likely have to part ways with Cowan and a first, atleast, but if you wanna win, that's the starting price.
Perfect I think you gotta pull the trigger on that one they have to retain and take some contracts the other way though

besides Calgary still winning. 1st isn't even enough. Andersson himself is worth a 1st and more easily without retention. The you add Backlund who they can get a 2nd, maybe even a 1st for. They don't need to retain to get a1st

Toews was a 26 year old 4th round pick with 146 NHL games. McTavish is a 21 year old former 3OA with 180 GP.

I don’t think he’s moving for a 2nd.
It was 2 seconds but your right I said a sakic like steal not meaning just a second I meant fleecing Anaheim

He's definitely big and a right shot. Don't see him play much at all but NHL edge doesn't give him very high grades for his skating. Still would probably be a solid addition to the bottom 6 though.

He's 32 years old now so maybe the wheels aren't as good lol.

No kidding.

Are people still stuck in the bizarre July narrative that JT was done? Look at his numbers!

He has been the same basically since forever. He is a Sundin. Paces about 30-40 g
70-85 pts a year.

He is an excellent 2 c for now. Hopefully we get 3 more years off of him (at a reasonable rate).

We need a c replacement and a rhd replacement prospect.

Agreed. His career numbers have basically been the same since Day 1.

I thought the narrative that developed over the summer was overblown, and it's downright absurd now. The fact that some are still parroting it shows me how much they're (not) paying attention.

Age is cruel and this is a contract years, regression *will* occur at some point but as long as JT has his amulet, he is immortal.

That is the biggest failure on Lou and Dubas's part, basically in all those drafts, we've got maybe Minten to show for NHL centres coming up internally.

We should have been able to find another top 6 centre in that time frame.

I have a feeling that Anaheim will probably dump Zegras and McTavish in due course since they aren't Verbeek guys from the draft, though McTavish is a guy who you would think fits Anaheim's design being a big body, power-ish guy.

Whatever trade would presumably look like Drysdale for Gauthier. Young high pick, slow to develop type for another. We don't have the cards to be in that game.

I feel like we need more speed and skill in our lineup. Instead of going after more muck and grind leadership maybe this is the year we go out and get an Anthony Duclair or this year's version of that and try to inject more more middle 6 piece to the mix.

I kind of wonder if Fraser Minten hasn't been brought up a stronger organization already and benefits from not being fed to the wolves too early in his career.

McTavish is one of those classic pandemic era prospects who missed a ton of junior time, had a lot of instability coming up and is kind of flying at a low developmental level, staying afloat but not really thriving.

I think Minten could be in an ideal position next year, likely coming up in that 3C position, reasonably sheltered behind some other good players.
