The challenge of course, that once Hakanpaa and Dewar finish their conditioning stints, which by my calculation is November 10th.... the next day they have to be added to the roster... which already has the maximum 23 players.

So two players need to be "moved". Clearly Myers is the first guy, and he'll get waived and sent to the Marlies if he clears, and the question is then, who is the second guy? Will they waive someone like Reaves, expecting him not to be claimed? Or will they have given up on Robertson and move him?
Leafs have 5 games before the 10th. It's going to be 5 really important games for a few players, particularly Robertson.

It's going to be Benning and Myers who are waived for Hakanpaa and Dewar to return. Leafs will run 14/7 instead of 13/8 once they are back.

Apparently the Leafs didn't even want Benning in this trade and he was a throw in at the Sharks request to make the money work for them. Leafs are going to try and flip him according to Friedge, but if they can't move him they'll probably just waive him too.

Yes, I missed Benning in the lineup... oops, Thx for the correction. I agree that it will likely be Myers and Benning then.... unless of course they decide to move Robertson anyway.

He’s a 7 million dollar player as it looks right now playing on the top line and arguably looking like the best player on it and not cause of the other two players on it mind you that’s what happens when we put our rfas on the top line with great players shoot ourselves in the foot every time
I mean... We're also trying to win hockey games lol. You need to ice the best lineup possible.

Interesting take from Friedman.

I thought I had read that the Leafs had previously had interest in Benning and had tried to get him before, so it didn’t seem odd that he was the token player included in the deal.

If Hakanpaa can play , we have Timmins, Myers and Benning for RHD. Wonder if the plan is to continue to play McCabe on RHD or keep the LHD as Rielly, McCabe and OEL and sit Benoit, while seeing if one of the 3 RHD can nail that 3RHD spot down, like I had hoped Liljegren could.

Rielly-Tanev
OEL-Hakanpaa
McCabe-Benoit/Timmins

Makes sense. I don't see anyone claiming Benning to be honest, but I could see teams dealing with some injuries taking a shot at a cheap contract like Myers for immediate RHD depth.

Honestly expect Myers to be claimed on waivers, likely by Utah.

Agree on Benning with him being signed for next year, but I really can’t see Myers getting through waivers.

Jarnkrok will eventually be coming back too... so bodies will need to be moved. I don't see Kampf being moved out, unless somehow we get an upgrade.

Friedman... noted that the Marlies won the Calder Cup in 2018.

Brooks, Marchment, Moore, Grundstrom, Johnsson, Dermott, Liljegren, Holl... not a player on that team left with the organization now.

Jarnkrok is probably untradeable. Good player but nobody is taking on 2.1M for 2 years for someone to play 35 games per year
