This franchise finally finds itself in a good position with goaltending depth and fans are just itching to trade it away. We’ve still got no idea if Stolarz can carry a starters load or how he’ll perform in the playoffs, or if Akhytamov or Hildeby will continue their upward trajectory. We literally just resigned Woll, the team isn’t going to trade him away so soon, least of all for an older, worse goalie. Ritchie is an interesting prospect but if I’m moving on from our supposed future in net I want more of a sure thing.

It's severely downgrading a top 9 winger, who provides size and a big speed element, and a locked up goaltender who has shown plenty of promise for a big time struggling pending UFA goaltender and a prospect who is a good year or so away from making any sort of impact.

I don't even think the Leafs would do either player for both of their players.
Is McMann still a top 9 winger when Jarnkrok comes back? If the Leafs add a C and move Domi to W (which seems like a necessity at this point) is McMann still a top 9 winger? I like McMann but he’s not a lock for the top 9.

He's still a very effective winger regardless of the line he's on. He PKs, he can pot goals and he's big and fast -- something we don't have enough. He's locked up to a good deal for awhile as well at a very affordable rate. And to be honest, I think he's better than Jarnkrok who isn't even practicing right now.

I'm not sure what trading him essentially for a prospect accomplishes for this season.

Is having 2 goalies with a career high of 28 and 25 games played in the NHL considered good depth?

Let this season play out with Woll and Stolarz. Neither have ever had to shoulder a starting role. It is a perfect situation for both of them.

In the summer, you may be in a position where both look like potential starters, and Hildeby is ready.
That is when you pull the trigger if a good deal appears.

It is too soon to be trading goalies, unless someone is desperate for Murray in an emergency situation.
You can move Murry is you wish but leave the rest alone.

It doesn’t accomplish anything for this season. I would never make that statement. It was a long-term proposal.

I completely agree he’s a very effective player and his contract increases his value. I also don’t think he’s the difference between the Leafs winning a playoff round and not, especially when he’s historically unreliable with injuries.

I'd 100% punt Murray for a late pick if a team calls. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a throw in at some point this season if the Leafs go shop and the team selling wants a stop gap for the season. I want Hildeby and AA to get the majority of starts for the Marlies.

He's not a star player but he's a good player and we need more quality, not less. You could say that about the majority of the team. But you still need to ice a team. Calum Ritchie is a good prospect but he's not a sure thing blue chip prospect either, so the problem could be even worse in a years time.

I guess Benning or Myers get waived soon. Maybe Benning gets traded.

Jarnkrok might be useful up until the TDL if he can get healthy. He absolutely fades in the playoffs though so maybe that is a swap to look at making, someone that can do a better job for us in the playoffs.

Armia might be a decent option .33 pt/game.

Myers is 100% getting waived. Benning could be traded but will be basically for nothing so either way it'll be like being waived.

Whenever Jarnkrok starts practicing, I'd put his timeline about 2 weeks away when he does. One week of practicing, then a conditoning stint for a week. So the Leafs have a good amount of time.

Notes via David Pagnotta: - Brad Treliving is believed to still be engaged in trade discussions with other teams but also is weighing his options via the waiver wire - Defenceman Conor Timmins and Matt Benning are both candidates to be moved or sent down, should they clear waivers-

Forward Calle Jarnkrok generated some trade interest early on in the season and pre-season- Nick Robertson remains on the trade block and is available if Tree has the right return on the table

My 2 cents - Timmins isn't going anywhere - he's been too good.

Colorado is in a tough situation because all their injured players will come back at some point.
So they really cannot trade for anyone who makes much more than minimum.

Their goaltending has been so horrible that it looks like they are carrying 3 goalies, and none of them have a SV% >=0.900. :eek3:
They will probably pick up any 3rd string goalie that goes on waivers.

Timmins has been very solid in bottom pairing minutes overall. Not sure what the point of trading him would be be.

I would have given away Timmins like 3 months ago but he isn't making those glaring defensive errors and has been healthy, so the durability questions have disappeared a bit.

He hasn't given up a goal in quite some time both SH and even strength, even if Hakanpaa came back healthy, I have zero issue in either rotating the 2 out or if fully healthy maybe roll out something like this?

Rielly-Tanev
OEL-Hakanpaa
McCabe-Timmins
Benoit

Benoit hasn't been that good this year, just my opinion.

Zero chance Timmins gets waived.

Unless their goalies have been playing with injuries, their goalie situation is still shambolic,
It's just shambolic. Annunen came in and played a few good games, and the last two he's been horrid. Georgiev has been a disaster this year.

If you don't think that we have good goaltending depth, why the eagerness to weaken it?
The proposed trade was for a C prospect. If Woll and Stolarz are as good as people think they are then the Leafs don’t need both. Capitalize on an asset before you end up with another Liljegren situation.

Looking to trade Woll for a promising Centre prospect is something I'd strongly consider and I think you're onto something.

However, the team thinks they're a contender and Woll can steal playoffs games. So it'll never happen. That's the marching orders

Bold idea and I wish we'd have the guts to do something interesting

I’m probably in the minority, but I think the team could use an infusion of RH shot players.
Tomasino is interesting, but likely goes from one dog house to another.
Evans having wheels is a good fit too.
Not sure who else?
Thinking about NickRob, worth pointing out that he’s playing his off wing. I haven’t minded his two way game at all, I think he’s been fine. Also worth pointing out that when he was filling the net in junior, his C was RH Semyon Der Arguchintsev.
Like the idea if obtaining Tanev’s brother, I like his size and game, also Yanni Gourde is a target I’d look to, of course we need to lose the likes of Holmberg, Robertson, Jarcrok, Reeves, Kampf, and possibly Dewar. That’s a lot of shit to shovel out ghe door………

Should be the same reason for any player.

If it makes the team better.

He's near the minimum, so you don't trade him for Cap Space, unless you get another minimum cap space player who is better, which would likely cost Timmins +.

I don't think Timmins has been on the ice for a goal against ES or PK for like 6 games now...so he's winning his minutes, likely difficult to do better for the $$.
