Well he could be there for Robertson too, who knows, but there's a bit of a hole on their RD. So that's why the connection makes sense.
I dont like to make those connections anymore. It is more likely Robertson due to the brothers. We trade him to Dallas for a 2nd rounder, Dallas gets a 20 plus goal guy. Berube wants Grebs in by half season.

Dallas can ask but unless it’s an overpay, moving Robertson is not in our best interests.

Potential 20-30 goal scorer for under $1 million, when we have cap issues and Jarnkrok and Kampf accounting for $4.5 million?

Makes no sense from Toronto’s perspective.

Dallas needs to pony up a lot more, or make a bigger trade for it to benefit us. As it stands, we will just keep Robertson.

He's playing 2LW with Cooley and Guenther.

I would think Utah would offer a 3rd round pick or so for Liljegren, and that the big win for Toronto here is clearing the $3M cap space. Bank it until the deadline and do something more creative with that money.

They're not banking any cap space while using LTIR.

Moving Liljegren isn't for cap space for a theoretical future move, it's so they can activate Jarnkrok/Hakanpaa/Dewar. Right now they don't have any cap space or roster spots to activate any of them. Even if a guy like Dewar is healthy they would be slow playing it while they figure out their next move. They can waive Myers if Hakanpaa is back but don't really have anyone else to send down.

Realistically multiple people have to be traded if they have interest in bringing all three injured guys onto the team. I'm definitely fine with trading Jarnkrok tho. And the more I think about it, trading Patches before his bonuses kick in for next years cap will probably end up being the best play though I sort of doubt they go that route. Trading someone like Robertson to keep Patches is ridiculously bad asset management on a team that needs youth.

Wrong. Toronto has no intention of ponying up. Berube likes Grebs for playoffs . Robertson gained no favours.

Berube’s public comments tell a different story, he’s shown nothing but praise for Robertson thus far, Grebs needs seasoning in the AHL, lots of seasoning before he’s remotely ready for the NHL………

Must say it is funny considering all the slander towards Lilly, a good organization in Dallas is rumored to be interested in him.

I'm surprised they're not interested in Robertson. I bet he would do well with his brother.

After there top 3 dman there is a big drop off
Drumba Lybushkin

Most teams have 3 or 4 really good dman p

Time for Lyb 3.0. :sarcasm:

Interesting. Are any of these three close to returning? If so, I would think that heightens the urgency of moving out Liljegren.

I was in here proposing the Leafs move off Woll this summer and I’m back on it.

Colorado needs a competent goalie, Woll is that when he plays. Colorado is also weak on the right side with Manson out.

Woll and Liljegren for Colton

Leafs then run:

Knies-Matthews-Marner
Domi-Colton-Nylander
McMann-Tavares-Jarnkrok
Lorentz-Kampf-X

This would leave Robertson, Pacioretty, Dewar, Holmberg, Reaves for X.

The obvious issue is Murray or Hildeby as the back up but they both have a strong background.

I am really happy with our goaltending so far (I was among those really advocating for the potential of the Stolarz signing this offseason), and I really like Colton as a trade target, but it feels very premature to move off of Woll.

For me the priority is a legit top-4 RHD and a top-9 winger for JT this season.

If only the Flames weren’t so petty because they have everything the Leafs need…

Coleman + Weegar would be fantastic additions.

Woll is good when he plays. He's 15th in the league in GSAx/60 since he entered the league (min 30 GP). His clear issue is his injury history. He is a real threat to be negative value on his upcoming contract if he goes another season without playing 30 games which looks to be a real chance. If the Leafs can still get a good asset for him right now they would be wise to do so.

If they end up with a backup goaltender making 3.7M to put up a .910 sv% in 30 games that is not a positive asset.

I dont expect Philly to make the playoffs, so maybe Scott Laughton? Seems like a Treliving type of player

Yanni Gourde maybe too. Or Brandan Tanev but thats dependent on if Seattle misses the playoffs
Laughton isn't playing Center for Philly

If Tre didn’t waste 3 million on Lilly we could have afforded to sign a top four D man……….

It was wishful thinking hoping Woll’s injury history was behind him, he might still be healthy enough to split the duties, but that part of the story has yet to be written………..

Those are strange priorities as I think a middle 6 centre is clearly the biggest role on the roster, unless you really believe in Domi there long-term (which I don't, mainly for defensive reasons).

I wouldn’t say long term but I think for the short term I like Domi at C. He looked good at C in the playoffs too.

2C is the priority in the off-season for sure after JT comes off the books but for this season I think a top-4 RHD and another top-9 winger that fits would complete the team.

I loathe Timmins, but dollar for dollar I’d rather him than Lilly at 3 million a year. I’d start Myers ahead of both of them……..

Cap space is only useful if you have a plan to use it.

and an extra $10mil on the cap
