Did you considered the Nucks a contender last season?
As that’s pretty much described the Nucks last season plus they had not lose 3 games in any 7 games span.

Also, being a contender or not means nothing when it comes to winning the Cup.
Cup winners are not necessarily Contenders in Jan or even contenders in April.

For sure they had great player, they increased their D and had a great goalie with Demko...

If we were to acquire Andersson, I feel like he’d be a better defensive partner with McCabe or Ekman-Larsson than Rielly.

Regardless, would love to acquire him. He’d really make our blueline elite.

Do they still hate our GM? Because that might cause some issues

I'm also wondering if the center market is to expensive or the guys we like get grabbed if we should look at a guy like Hall as a top 6LW instead

Gives us more scoring and we could push a top 9 forward to the 4th line

I mentioned it earlier but Hall (50% retained) + Murphy from Chicago would be an interesting move.

Murphy has another year on his contract. Hall has a NTC and has wanted to play in Toronto in the past. He's a pending UFA. The Hall portion of the trade likely costs a 3rd. Murphy would be a 1st+.

Interesting to actually see Cozens name on TSN’s trade bait board. That’s the guy we should be going all in on.
 
To Toronto: Connor Murphy
To Chicago: Nick Robertson + Conor Timmins + 2nd Rounder

Does Chicago accept that? Or is that not enough? Would love to acquire Murphy without giving up our 1st next year.

I proposed Marner for Dobson but I doubt Lou would do that. He may have already turned down Pettersson for Dobson.

Either way talk of trading Marner is just talk because Leafs will overpay him before they consider trading him at this point. The only way a Marner trade happens is if the Leafs told the Marner camp, they are not resigning him and Marner asks to be traded. I have a better chance of winning the lottery.

Haven't heard Pettersson connected to much. I could see a Barzal for Pettersson basis though.

NYR turned down Zibby and Schneider for Miller because they don't want to trade Schneider.

There is some talk out there that the NYI don't/won't like Dobson's ask on his next contract, it'll start with an 8 at the least.

I would be prepared to try to blow away the Islanders a bit on Dobson.. Lou loved Rielly in Toronto....Rielly is a bit less but I would be prepared to add on our 26 1st and Cowan to Rielly to land Dobson. I doubt that gets it done but I would be trying hard.

Can’t imagine Rielly having any interest in that.
 
What if the leafs really swing for the fences and add one of their better prospects, draft picks and get Vancouver to retain a couple mil of JT Millers contract? I know not happening, but nice to dream

Maybe NYR because not a lot of people turn down that spot but NYI? Tougher sell.

In a couple of years, Rielly's NMC becomes a M-NTC - he's definitely the guy to move on from asap though.
