Trades & Free Agency Thread: 2024-2025 - Deadline-ageddon

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
Then he should have probably made trades in the off-season to rectify that instead of going with the same group of players of the last whatever how many years?
Well let’s say he did went to the core 5 and said, hey, thanks for your time but we are heading into a different directions and need you to waive the NTC and NMC. And they all just laughed and said No. what can Tre do?

Unless it doesn't work and the team sucks for a decade. This catches up to you. Lucky for them they have already won and the pressure is off. They also have the benefit of being a go to low tax destination. So they can replace the draft picks with cheap signings. Florida teams def'ly have an advantage.

Personally I'd rather go all in in one approach rather than trying to do two things at once m if management believes in the core then they need to spend now. If they don't I have no idea what they're trying to accomplish

If the team has to rebuild completely from the ground up in 2030-2035 then so be it.

For his sake, you may be right.

Rumour was they were keen on Gourde; now that's gone, something else (not Laughton) could come up.

I hope he has a good look at his opponent tonight...
Or maybe he said he is in on Gourde inorder to drive up the price for TB, lol.

There's not a single report about shopping or asking to waive their NTCs. He also chose to re-sign Nylander. And now he's going to re-sign JT and probably Marner.

We have to be the only team that can't get a player to waive their NTC... it's crazy.

I'm curious to see how the McMann - Domi - Robertson third line plays again tonight. They've been good recently, especially with Robertson showing something a little extra. I'd almost be inclined to trying to find an upgrade on Holmberg on the 2nd line or Dewar on the 4th for forwards. Then go get a Dman. Just don't realistically know who you can get.

Watch us pull out Stamkos out of our ass

Stamkos plus 2025 1st round pick for Dewar. I'd still say no.

I honestly thought he'd probably go to UFA, and look for a change in scenery. He took a pay cut, to stay in Buffalo? OH damn... that's $4 mil per... not $4 mil total... lol...OK, that makes sense why he's staying... yikes Buffalo... that's some money there.

I agree with you. For some reason every other teams can get their players to waive except us.

Tampa traded a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and a 5th I believe for Jeannot not long ago... they are not afraid to go for it that's for sure.

I would rather have Marchessault.
I would trade Nemila, 1st, 3rd, Kampf, and Calle for 50% retention on Marchessault and ROR.

Then run the lines

Domi-AM-Marchessault
McMann-JT-MM(shutdown line and a line that will have Dzone starts more than Ozone starts)
Knies-ROR-Willie

That’s three very balance lines.

Are they alpha though?

not sure you will get ROR alone for this, forgot about get both+ marchessault at 59$

Probably the most exciting realistic move.that Tre could make by Friday.

I'd be happy with it

With jones out, murphy will stay in Chicago except for an overpay

Marchessault is not just Alpha, he is an Alpha that plays with a chip on his shoulder.

Used to think ROR is too but after his stint in TO, seems like he is not but could be again under a coach he respects and trusts.

One could hope, lol.

Calgary, Vancouver, St.Louis definitely aren't selling....unless they can upgrade.

Tampa Bay has 2.4M in cap to add more depth, expect another 1-2 trades.
They will be looking for defense and its possible more depth upfront, someone like Hathaway retained.

Florida has 6.250M in cap assuming they add 1-3 players....there main focus is offense and maybe one defenseman #7.

Washington has 7.650M in cap if they move Eller, im not sure how long Oshie, Backstrom & Milano are out but lets assume its until the playoffs....they will be looking to add offense and maybe a #7-#8 defenseman.

Carolina has 2.2M in cap
6.6M if they move Fast & Carrier
There looking to add depth on offense and defense.

New Jersey has 13.5M in cap
Assuming there looking to replace Hughes now that he's injured....they will be the number one team looking to acquire a top center plus one or two solid defenseman and one depth player in the bottom6

NYR have 3.3M in cap
And depending on how long Fox and Kreider are out you can add another 6.5-16M.....its possible they upgrade Quick, but if both players come back they wont have much cap to work with and will probably add two defenseman.

Columbus can add anyone & have alot of draft picks over the next 3years.

Detroit has 8.2M in cap
They could use help on every position
Yzerman will probably sell and continue to build, if they make it to the playoffs it's a win/win
Dont see him giving up much right now
Maybe they use the cap to retain on other teams deals and stock up.
There questionable

Ottawa has 4.9M in cap
They need defense

Winnipeg
has 12.5M in cap
16.5M if they move Lafallo
They could upgrade offense and defense, watch out! Depending on who they acquire there going to be one hell of a team.

Dallas is negative 800k with Heiskanen coming back....so for them to make any moves you're going to see guys like Benn, Ceci, Granlund moved to make room for trades...and they lack draft picks this year

Minnesota has 3M with Hartman coming back and Eriksson-ek
They need both offense and defense

Colorado has 4.8M in cap
Assuming they add to there offense and defense, they look decent

Edmonton has 300k
Unless they move Skinner or Kapanen

Vegas
has 3.1M in cap
4.9M if they move Samsonov
They're basically just adding depth or pushing players down in the charts

The kings have 7.5M in cap
They could use a solid top6 player and some depth in defense

Calgary can add anyone

St.Louis has 6.5M
9.750M if they move Faksa

Vancouver has 7.2M
12M if they move Forbort & Soucy
They need defense and potentially another top6 forward

Utah i think is in the same boat as Boston, Montreal they sell and if they make the playoffs its a bonus
