Parayko + buchnevich
For
2024 1st
2026 1st
Liljegren
Robertson
Minten
Brodie
Kampf
Lol way too much. More like Parayko + Buchnevic for 24 1st, Brodie (who they flip for a 1st/2nd), Kampf, Timmins, and a couple B prospects.

Run
Buch - Matthews - Marner
Bertuzzi - Domi - Nylander
Knies - Tavares - Jarnkrok
McMann - Holmberg - Reaves/Gregor

Rielly - Parayko
Benoit - McCabe
Edmundson - Liljegren/Boosh

my dream scenario is Seth Jones waives for us, and double retention
20% down to 7.6 and 20% down to 6.08
retention would only be:
1.9 and 1.52 but, that would cost a fair bit, because that is a long term retention.
even with only 20% he'd supplant Reilly as our #1D and give us one heck of a top pairing.

Josh Gorges. Ended up in Buffalo...serves him right!
Not the brightest move by Curious George………

why is this organization so hell-bent on getting rid of Lilly? so dumb. I can understand trading him to facilitate a trade for a dman like Parayko but why get rid of a young promising D for no reason. players sometimes take time to develop. I don't get these "frustrations".
This organization can't develop d men anyways so no point in keeping him. Niemela should also be traded as a result.

What would you guys think of this trade with some tweaks:

Nashville trades:
Sissons (2.8M x 3)
Fabbro (2.5M - RFA)
Carrier (2.5M - UFA)
+Retention

Toronto trades:
2024 1st
Liljegren (1.4M - RFA)
Robertson (796K - RFA)
Niemela (856K)
+Salary

Leafs get a gritty, rightshot, 3rd line center who can put up points and hits, plus two mobile RD. Predators get a bunch of futures. Some additional assets for salary and retention purposes are needed.

Listening to the latest Leafs Report podcast today,

CJ mentions Leafs ideally wanting to add two D and a forward (likely a centre). Says the market is 'strange' and we may very well see the Leafs waiting until 259pm tomorrow to make their last deal as they wait for sellers to come down. In past had suggested Brodie may be on way out for cap room

Mirtle says he's heard internally some in the organization have been frustrated Lily and his development arch so far

Edit: CJ also seems skeptical about Lily's future with the team. Mentions new GM not having connections with these players. Though he mentions he's unclear what his actual value is.
ffs

Sandin, Dermott, and Lilly to Niemela, you're next

Games isn't a problem. He just happens to be part of one of the worst defencemen development system's in hockey. That is not a hyperbole. People complain about losing Durzi. You think he would develop here? Not a chance.
1 pucc moving dman is a sure fire way to be a 1st round exit

Toronto
Nicholas Moldenhauer
Tj Brodie (St Louis trade away for picks)
Nick Robertson
Conor Timmins
24 1st
24 4th rd pk
26 4th (Turns to 26 3rd rd pk if Buchnevich resigns)

St Louis
Pavel Buchnevich 50% retain
Colton Parayko

🤔

Pietrangelo, Theodore, Hanifin, McNabb, Hague, Whitecloud, Martinez.

Easily the best defense in hockey. Such a stout org. Eichel, Hanifin, Theodore, Hague, etc. all still young enough to keep that window open for another 5-8 years.

Meanwhile we piss our futures away on depth rentals and injury prone vets.
