Rather have Robertson, no need to trade him; they can use his help now.
I just don't think he's going to make the team this year. Even if he does I don't think he should be tasked with fixing the Tavares/Nylander line which he would have to if he was in the top 6. I could be wrong though.

To Toronto: Michael Rasmussen
To Detroit: Rasmus Sandin

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Robertson - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - Rasmussen - Jarnkrok
Gaudette - Kampf - Aube-Kubel

Rielly - Liljegren
Muzzin - Brodie
Giordano - Holl

Murray - Samsonov

I'd like to keep Sandin but if he's moved it should be for a young centre like Rasmussen, Hayton...

PPG in the AHL at 20 is kind of a benchmark, although the sample is a little small. His brother didn't do that. Kapanen and Kadri did it but both needed to cook in the AHL for another year. Considering he has only played about 115 non-tournament games since being drafted I am pretty happy with his pace.

I think at worst he will be a regular before the end of the season if he stays healthy.

I respect his production at every level (small NHL sample excluded) I just don't see his game translating every time I see him in the NHL. I'm not saying it's impossible for him to be a good NHL player - I just think it's not a terrible practice to move on from a prospect once you see red flags and they still have value. Maybe I'm the only one who sees red flags in his game and it's a moot point.

Jake Virtanen is a shit human and even shittier hockey player - which is impressive. I'm all for giving guys a 2nd chance if they don't suck ass at hockey. You give guys like Evander Kane a 2nd chance because he's good at hockey, not bums like Virtanen. (not that Kane and Virtanens situations are at all comparable)

You don’t move on from a prospect, that if he hits, could be a 30-40 goal scorer, given the relatively low return you would get. It just doesn’t make any sense. 20 years old, some patience is needed.

I’ve said before and will ask again - Alex Nylander (750k). Why not let Pittsburgh take a look at the stable of C/D-tier prospects? He’s played a full season (84 games) and is plug and play and if he sucks he sucks, but maybe he won’t.
There are all kinds of actual NHL players still looking for contracts. It would be far better to sign someone we know can play in the NHL, with one of our few contract spots.

You are ignoring the proposed return which is Stankoven.

So our obvious red flag prospect, is someone we can move for Dallas’s prospect who just had a great season because??? Brothers??

You think we have a prospect with red flags, yet you also propose a premium return.

Then we another small player takes time for his body to adjust to the league, you will probably grow impatient with them too.

All of Dallas' forward prospects are the exact same: right shot centers. They have no premium left shot wingers in the system. As I mentioned earlier - I see red flags when I watch him play but as you mentioned, as another poster before you: you do not see red flags in his play. I am proposing the Leafs should move him at what is probably his peak value for a prospect who is very similar but 2 years behind. It allows the Leafs to restart while allowing the Stars to pick up a position of need in their prospect pipeline in exchange for a position of strength.

And yes, his brother is on the team.

Edit: the same deal can be made for any of Dellandrea, Bourque or Johnston. I would think Johnston is untouchable though.

Virtanen is a shit human being, and even if Dubas wanted to try to sign him, I'm 99% sure the higher up brass wouldn't want anything to do with the baggage that now comes with him.

Anyways, I think Toronto is pretty much done this off season apart from trading Holl and signing Sandin for 2m per for 3 years. With a 20 man roster, and having either Anderson/Robertson on the wing to start and Gaudette as the center on the 4th line and sending down Simmonds/Clifford, it leaves Toronto with around 200k in cap. You can swap the 4th line center/4th line winger with any AHL promoted player pretty much.

Wonder if a guy like ZAR is asking for too much ...or if he's gonna end up taking a deal for sub 1 mil to play on a contender. Would love to have him in the bottom 6 still..
Move Kerfoot & Sandin to AZ for Crouse. The 3.5 hit with barely any money owned, coupled with a young Dman should be enticing for them. And we all know a winger like Crouse would instantly be a fan favourite here.

The player I think has the potential to really explode this year is Yakov Trenin from Nashville. I'd move a 1st for him easily and give him a shot at 2 LW.

Why are we adding Sandin to downgrade from Kerfoot to Crouse?

Minnesota declines pretty easy

It's about fit and what he brings. I think most would take Crouse over Kerfoot. Crouse could get 25-30 goals playing with the guys we have in our top 6. Kerfoot played a ton of top 6 this year and had a breakout year of 13 goals. We need some secondary scoring. Jarnkrok does the exact same job as Kerfoot for 1.4mil less. We need goals and tenacity. Sandin isn't even in line to crack out D core, and is clearly chasing dollar bills (not something we need more of....one thing when you're a star player...tough look when you're a #6-#7 D on a team..
Get AZ to add a pick if it helps, but I don't think Kerfoot & Sandin for Crouse is outrageous. That "Tom Wilson" style of player is hard to obtain. Can find 10 Kerfoots every free agency

Dallas will love their shiny prospect who outperformed last year. Dallas has strong LW in their lineup, but not so strong on RW. Leafs are strong in RW, but weak on LW. The Leafs are a contend now team, not a kick the can down the road 2-3 seasons on a prospect. This is a move that makes no sense. Have patience with your prospects and let them develop.
