He lives here.

Yeah, but it just implies the market is unreasonable when in fact he has no experience riding the ups and downs of Toronto. Would make more sense if the quote came from Hyman or someone who has been though it.

If he said something negative I would agree but I don't see a negative here. To each their own.

he doesn't necessarily mean unreasonable just extremely high pressured.

though its also unreasonable, of course.

but its Toronto where the SOOOOOOUUUUPPPP chants were born, so nobody can say he wasnt supported.

The market is 'unreasonable' though, you don't need to have played here to realize that.
I don't think he's saying that anyway.

On one hand it’s cool that he’s tracking the market and has his attention here. But like you said, Jack has been very well supported here for providing up and down and generally okay goaltending, and I’m not sure we need a guy who isn’t quite a Leaf get to speak like he’s in the club. I dunno, maybe not a big deal.

Too much money. He put up 13 points from January on, once Kane joined them and he was displaced. As a third line guy, I don't think he offers enough offensively for this. Barring injuries (to others ahead of him in the lineup), he's going to put up less than 30 points this year... and while his defensively. He's a guy who really needs top two line type players, to succeed offensively. This is probably his last year in Edmonton, which might be good for both parties involved.

As a non Leaf I don’t think he should talk about the market. Just my feeling.
I don't think McDavid's comments are remotely controversial. These types of complaints are why hockey players give the most bland interviews among athletes on the planet (e.g. just going to take it one game at a time, gotta give 110%, I just care about the W, etc making up 90% of hockey interviews).

I just don’t think someone who hasn’t had to perform in this market should speak about the difficulty playing here. Toronto definitely seems to be hard on some players but it also plays favourites, and from what I can tell Campbell was treated very well.

I think he's more complimenting Campbells mental if anything. Media is crazy here and goalies especially get it bad from them and fans so he's pretty much saying that if he survived playing here as a starter he can do it anywhere in the league.

Probably taking a shot at the Defense if anything.

I wonder how long we'll have to wait until we dump cap and sign Sandin. Will it be before August?
