Everybody talks about the Leafs like they have a rivalry. Connor, they just let you use the practice rink man. Calm down.

But what he says is true. Toronto is a tough market to play in. If you can play in Toronto, you can play anywhere.... in theory.
He lives here.As a non Leaf I don’t think he should talk about the market. Just my feeling.
I don't see this as Connor taking a shot at Toronto at all. If anything, it's the opposite.
He lives here.
If he said something negative I would agree but I don't see a negative here. To each their own.Yeah, but it just implies the market is unreasonable when in fact he has no experience riding the ups and downs of Toronto. Would make more sense if the quote came from Hyman or someone who has been though it.

The market is 'unreasonable' though, you don't need to have played here to realize that.Yeah, but it just implies the market is unreasonable when in fact he has no experience riding the ups and downs of Toronto. Would make more sense if the quote came from Hyman or someone who has been though it.
he doesn't necessarily mean unreasonable just extremely high pressured.
though its also unreasonable, of course.
but its Toronto where the SOOOOOOUUUUPPPP chants were born, so nobody can say he wasnt supported.

I don't think he's saying that anyway.
I agree, he did have it easy.I’d say the market was fairly kids gloves with Soup’s tenure here.
I don't think McDavid's comments are remotely controversial. These types of complaints are why hockey players give the most bland interviews among athletes on the planet (e.g. just going to take it one game at a time, gotta give 110%, I just care about the W, etc making up 90% of hockey interviews). As a non Leaf I don’t think he should talk about the market. Just my feeling.

I think he's more complimenting Campbells mental if anything. Media is crazy here and goalies especially get it bad from them and fans so he's pretty much saying that if he survived playing here as a starter he can do it anywhere in the league.I just don’t think someone who hasn’t had to perform in this market should speak about the difficulty playing here. Toronto definitely seems to be hard on some players but it also plays favourites, and from what I can tell Campbell was treated very well.
