Do people honestly think Robertson is ready for 2nd line duties to start the year? It feels like he needs atleast until the trade deadline to be in the conversation as full-time NHLer. His progress has just been too interrupted with COVID and injuries.

How much more do you need him to do in the AHL before giving him a chance?

All regular season games.

Kadri had 119 AHL Games
Nylander had 75 AHL games and 43 SHL games
Engvall had 33 SHL games and 94 AHL games.
Kapanen had 101 Liiga games and 119 AHL games
Johnsson had 158 SHL games and 129 AHL games

Robertson has had 49. He's also only 20.

He deserves a chance in camp, but let's keep in mind that most forwards we've had through the system, had more AHL games, before making the transition, and were older. It doesn't reflect negatively on him at all.

I doubt that. He's well aware of what support Campbell is likely to receive in Edmonton. It would be a pretty stupid shot if that were his intent.
😂I wasn’t serious

Unless he has a horrible camp he needs a bit of an extended look IMO. He’s never really impressed me much, they need to see what’s there.

we're delaying every prospect cuz covid?

Any time those prospects you named hit Nick's production (if they ever did) they were promoted.

If the Leafs elected to go with the Florida model (3 scoring lines with PPG talent on all 3) they could pair Marner with Robertson. A forward group like the one listed below would be interesting (assuming the Leafs could sign Rodrigues and move Kerfoot).

Bunting-Matthews-Nylander
Robertson-Rodrigues-Marner
Engvall-Tavares-Jarnkrok
ZAR/Anderson/Holmberg-Kampf-NAK

I don’t know. Kadri and Nylander were at that level and it took them a long time to move up. And note, I’m not listing the number of games to say that he doesn’t deserve a shot, or a look, it’s just that others took more experience before moving up. If he doesn’t make it yet, that’s ok, we’ve had plenty of other players not make it the first shot, get more experience and be great contributors. He’s very young still, not a lot of games behind him, so if he doesn’t make it, it doesn’t make him a bust. But he does deserve a shot.

He also had 2 major injuries that prevented his GP from being much higher. Despite that, he’s still managed to develop as a player. IMO there is definitely somethjng there to warrant a look at 2LW but yes he needs to come to camp on absolute fire and in the best shape of his life.

I mean, he did have the 3rd highest G/GP in the last 20 years for a 20 year old in the AHL (Jack Quinn, Kyle Palmieri being the other 2). He needs to show that he can play away from the puck but if he does so in camp his offensive tools will play.

I think he did that. He is a major asset on the PK. He is solid in his own end.

I think the only thing that holds him back is if the Leafs want a specific type of player and he is not that player, or if they want him to get more reps and maybe get a bit stronger.

All I am going to say is that Sandin was far less ready for the NHL when he was promoted full-time than Robertson right now.

Bastian from NJD would make a nice 4th line pickup too. (Plenty of hits). I’m also not sure why NJD would move him or McLeod.

From an article or two I've read the desire is for improved scoring from their bottom 6. They see upside with the two first lines, but the 4th was presented as a concern.
edit
It was also presented that with McLeod he may have been developed with the desire to be the responsible, defensive C at the expense of his offensive contributions, and that he may have tried to prove himself, defensively, too much. These young players will often soak up the suggestions just to stay in the show.

Islanders won't trade Mayfield unless their season starts tanking or we overpay. Think "Holl and two 2nds for Mayfield" as a deal they could maybe say yes to, but more likely they still say no.

Not sure Flyers are looking to move on from Konecny. It's likely that they could get better offers from other teams.

Jets are definitely not trading Lowry for Muzzin. It's a bad deal for them, and on top of that, they have too many D and are trying to ship Dillon out to make room for one of Samberg or Heinola. Adding a D makes no sense for them right now.

Is there any team out there currently with the depth need and the financial ability to trade for a nylander

Team should be relatively competitive too

Like the player

But they will need to clear room when bergeron and krejci come on.. and zacha i think is still unsigned

I cant believe mike reilly is making 3 million after checking..
Kreijci is gone . Hes playing back home this season. May be done in nhl .

I dont think that is accurate i believe they are still negotiating

Should clarify this would be primarily for a forward coming back.. younger cheaper and room to grow

With Bergeron yes , but Kreijci has signed a multi year deal back home . He won't be a Bruin this year at least and effectively retired from the NHL was my understanding/recollection. Maybe things changed but I thought a deal overseas was signed.

Edit -appears I'm mistaken and that a return is still possible . The Bruins demise might be premature if those 2 return for another kick at the can

I think we're stuck with Holl and Kerfoot tbh.
