Need to be able to ice a lineup of 12 defenders instead of 12 forwards.

He's a bit better than Holl and Sandin, so we slightly upgraded our #5 defenseman.
They can call up another forward Saturday and they will have enough cap space for Knies or a Marlies call up with Murray back if there aren’t any other trades

Okay so they can run 13 forwards and 9 dman. So maybe they won’t make a trade then.

I don't see it. The whole strategy of the Leafs this season is to run with a tandem. I don't see them moving on from that so late in the season, especially at the cost of multiple prime assets for the privilege of doing so.

Roster limits are only a thing until 12:01 am on trade deadline day. The roster size then becomes unlimited but all players on the roster must fit under the cap.

Surely that strat is based on who was available to us on the goalie market. If we had a vezina level goalie like Saros here I don't think they'd mind running him out there for 60 games.

Based on last night were an AHL team, fortunately our season isn't based on 1 game
I still think we need a middle 6 forward, I think we could get one two with that 1st and whatever we get for one of those defenseman we have to many of

Which would most likely mean moving 2 D out if they intend to keep 3 G on the roster, because that goalie can't be sent down and they need cap and a roster space on the 23 man for Knies.

Not quite. They actually expand at 12:01 am on the day of the deadline. So, just under 2 hours from now.

So they put Matthews on LTIR after the game and then just go crazy buying players. lol

Honestly at this point, I think it needs to happen. Not only for the team but for Holl and the fans. It's just time.
I don't think I can keep reading the same rhetoric about him for another run either.

During his presser after the McCabe / Lafferty deal, Dubas, umprompted, mentioned the importance of maintaining the balance within the room without making too much change.
It was a strange comment at the time, but one that made more sense after we saw the Schenn / Engvall / Sandin / Gustaffson transactions.
That comment has kind of stuck in my mind since then - I wonder if it means he's done adding tomorrow. Still think we see him move out a Dman, but I wonder if they choose to go the prospect/pick return route rather than body for body.
