Honestly I find the constant whining about Arizona to be unbearable. Every league has low budget teams. They simply can't generate the revenue that other teams can because of their arena situation. If they get a Tempe arena they can operator like the rest of the league, if they don't they will get relocated. Too much complaining for the fun of it though.

I would love to see Kerfoot go to make it work but I think both Keefe and Dubas love Kerfoot/Holl and they will stick around past tomorrow.
It is a joke.

I really don’t recall a professional team in the top league of the World in any sports ended up renting a College Arena to play their games bc they either couldn’t make rent or whatever.

Then you have 56% of cap value that is not even real money bc the team can’t afford it.

If I run my business and I can’t break even by over 50%, I will close my business and not drag on. That’s why I don’t understand why other owners are all okay with Arizona.

I must be missing something, but didn’t the league just release a statement warning teams about trading for LTIR contracts, or something? Isn’t this exactly what the Yotes are doing? Honestly, what am I not understanding?

The league was warning teams to not obtain a LTIR player, who would be expected to then play in the playoffs. Basically adding a player without cap implications.

Yes, they did. It appears Zona is directly sticking it in Gary's face.

The same is said about the Rays and A's in MLB, and at times the Marlins, and rightfully so. It's one thing to be low budget. It's another to run a professional sports team like a minor league organization.

So if Dubas would have traded for LTIR contracts that weren’t going to be playing in the playoffs, would he have gained cap space to go after other trade targets?

I know there are concerns about change-room attitude. But on paper I would like to get Domi. He adds scoring and can beat the crap out of people. He's an enforcer who can actually play.

Maybe Jake McCabe and Sam Lafferty can provide some real sense on how it's like having Domi on the team.

That said, 18 goals 49 pts in 60 games. Not bad.

No... he would have been able to add players, with zero cap implications. For example, Konecny might be out for the season, or most of it... If he was expected to be back around the start of the playoffs, his acquisition would be a net zero to the cap. It doesn't gain you cap space at all... it's like you add their cap, and then kind of subtract it...

I have? I imagine you’re right, but I don’t remember specifically asking this one. My bad if I did.

LTIR only adds space if the player is injured at the time he is on the active roster and already counting towards the total cap. Once they are on LTIR, if acquired, it doesn’t change the available cap to make a deal.
