If push comes to shove we can waive Kerfoot/Engvall and ice a 22man roster (Sandin/Timmins as spares) with Murray activated. Only downside is potentially having to play 10F 8D down the stretch if we run into injuries.

But we're not up against the wall to get leveraged into a costly dump move.
If they wait until after the TDL to waive either of them they can't play in the playoffs for any team that claims them so it increases the chance of them going through waivers.

Would be interesting to see which forward is coming out of the lineup on Wed.

Engvall and Kerfoot are the favourites, while Calle is the dark horse.

Can Kämpf plays wing? I think that’s the question

It'll be ZAR and Lafferty is a winger so why would Kampf move?

To Toronto:
Barrett Hayton (retained by Vancouver)

To Arizona:
Rasmus Sandin

To Vancouver:
Alex Kerfoot

Essentially swapping a LD for a C - similar age, contract. Give up Kerfoot for a slight retention & roster spot.

Frees up our D to run:
Rielly-Brodie
Giordano-Liljegren
McCabe-Holl
/Timmins

And gives us a young C who we can develop to eventually replace JT/ROR. Sandin fills in for Chychrun once he’s traded.

I'm thinking ZAR as of now. Kampf on the wing doesn't seem plausible to me with defensive acumen being the best part of his game.

That’s what I am thinking too.

I think either Engvall or Kerfoot might be out on Wed. Then we see ZAR out on Thursday to see which lines work better.

I mentioned Kampf earlier was more about asking can he play Wing instead of suggesting he is the odd man out.

I feel relatively certain at this point Dubas has an extension in place. Why in the hell would MLSE let a guy trade away multiple 1sts and other assets just to have potentially a new voice controlling things come summer.

MLSE and Shanahan aren't Edmonton letting Chia tank the future with awful trades before getting fired.
Agreed, and IMO it varies depending on playoff results. First round exit = short show me contract, semi finals = 4ish year extension, cup = Babcock deal

just reading through the thread, unless it is for Chychrun Sandin isn't going anywhere. He may end up being depth and not playing a lot in the playoffs this year, but they will not trade him for anything short of a star replacement.
Lilly has made the step up this year, and will play a lot in the playoffs.
Management I think believe even if Sandin is still ripening this year, next year will be his.
Remember, Giordano is getting ollllld, and Brodie isn't here forever.
Sandin is our LHD after Rielly in the future.

Not sure if you saw the news but they just acquired McCabe for 2.5 seasons!

Yes, and that still leaves us with Rielly, McCabe and Sandin on the left side next year.
Giordano gets spotted, and Brodie can play on the right with Rielly.
Confirms my thoughts .
(lol spellcheck made thoughts into spots.)

Or you capitalize on Sandin's value while he still has some and you just let Gio play next year. Gio has been one of the 3 best Leaf defenders this year and should absolutely be able to handle 3LD duty next year.

They can run:

Rielly-Brodie
McCabe-Liljegren
Gio-Timmins

All 6 are under contract for next year.

Depends if they move O'Rielly to 3rd line C. Could see Jarnkrok back on that 2nd line LW spot and then something like this.

Engvall-O'Rielly-Lafferty
ZAR-Kampf-Accari

Forgot about Kerfoot. Too much you can do with the lineup now tbh but who knows what else we're doing. Maybe we move Kerfoot for some picks seeing that some teams are willing to overpay for someone. If we keep him you could go real crazy possibly and put him on Tavares LW with Jarnkrok on RW so you can have O'Rielly and Nylander together on the 3rd. I'd assume ZAR possibly sits out if that's the case but the 4th line currently has looked good and maybe Keefe likes ZAR and Accari down there together. Then possibly add in Knies down the line and it gets even more complicated. Who knows.... Keefe better not screw this up because this is our deepest roster in forever tbh and if we fail I'm putting it on him unless our stars don't show up because Dubas has done everything he can.

While anything is possible, I'm hoping that protection for Giordano (age) and/or Timmins (injury risk) has just been acquired (referring to next season).
