I'd take Chychrun over lilijgren comfortably for their whole careers. Both are basically the same age (2016 draft class vs 2017 draft class). Chychrun is a great top-pairing defenseman who moves the puck well and brings offense on a very poor coyotes team.

I see chychrun excelling incredibly if we got him.

However, I don't want to deal lilijgren out in a deal to get chychrun. Lilijgren will be a prime Brodie-level player (great #2/3D) for the next 6-7 years and he is the perfect guy to pair with chychrun on our top pairing.

Sandin/Knies+ 2024 1st + 2025 2nd for Chychrun

If they offer Crouse in the deal drop the second and put in both Knies & Sandin

My preference would be to turn Sandin into Chychrun like you said.

A strong deal for both teams I think if the yotes want to move on and get value

Run this year

Chychrun - Brodie
Rielly - Lilijgren
Gio - Timmons/Holl

Then next year transition Lilijgren to top pairing and Brodie to 2nd.

Chychrun - Lilijgren
Rielly - Brodie
Gio - Timmons

2024-2025 you see Brodie and Muzzin deals expire. Brodie can be used to extend Chychrun and we can plug Niemela hopefully into the bottom pairing. We would next make a trade for 2 RHD most likely, but that is 2 playoff runs from now and the team will change heavily by then

Yeah but zadorav has no hands or brains. If we had a team like Minnesota I would take him but our identity is skill and puck possession and we can’t have someone like zadorov who is awful at both. Trust me I want some bangers but only if it’s a upgrade.

Disagree. the second line is fantastic in transition due to positioning, quick stick on defense causing turnovers and also marner is fantastic at transition game. Sure our four line is average in transition but who cares they’ll play 8 mins a game and generally 4th lines are cycle lines.

You want zadorov tossing bombs like zaitsev at our skill guys? We need someone physical but who still has average hands.
You also need guys capable of moving out aggressive Bruins in front of our net and not taking liberties with our goalies and small Dmen. If acquired Z would not be relied upon for his offense.

Can someone fill me in on why Chychrun hasn’t played near a full season? Is it not concerning at all?

You think line 2 hasn’t been great at transition? They’ve been the best on the team easily since ROR. My point is our team overall is good at transition, skilled passing, puck possession and zadorov is none of those things.

What is your point on zadorov?
My point is i don't think he's gna ruin the transition game

100% I get where you're coming from.

What I'm saying is it looks like a change of scenery might help... His value will never be lower. We might even get a pick out of it.

Kerfoot + (contract dump)

For

Greenway + pick

Or

Kerfoot

For

Greenway (25% retained)

We get Greenway for 2 more season.. to try and mold him to a better player. He's friends with Matthews, maybe change of scenery with the leadership we have on the team now might steer his career in the right direction... He's definitely got the tools and potential.

What I'm saying is he's probably the biggest buy low candidate with a high ceiling... Don't think he can get any worse than what he is now..

What evidence is there his attitude will change by joining a different team?

Injury prone.

He has been sitting for the past few weeks so he doesn't get hurt, and was hurt for the first 15-ish games of the season.

In general, he is very injury-prone. That is why Arizona has been sitting him, and likely a big reason why nobody wants to give their price on him.

At this point, I think the best they can hope for is a Muzzin package. 2 good B prospects (or 2nd's) and a late 1st. Really should have been the expectation from the beginning but they wanted to go for the homerun.

He has to be able to move the puck still

The Bruins and Tampa would abuse anybody that can't move the puck efficiently

The funny thing is that everyone I know who supports the Wild says he is not even that good of a player. He is a big body and is willing to use it, but he is not nearly as physically dominant as his size or even hit totals suggest... And considering he is not a good defensive player, not a guy who is putting up a ton of offense, and not a good skater...

He is pretty much just Nick Ritchie.

Good god. Listening to Kipper and Bourne show from Friday and they are saying a deal the Leafs should do is

Knies + Liljegren + Sandin + 1st 2025 for Chychrun + Brown

Good f***ing god. Do none of our media watch the games?
I know they make these proposals because they're bad and they'll generate buzz and attention
but holy hell that's bad

Maybe but I doubt anybody would be abusing a 6'5" 230 lb mean as a junk yard dog player at all. If you have seen him play, he is extremely physical and fights if provoked. He is a mountain of a man that does not back down to anyone.
We have enough skill and it gets us nowhere, why not try another tact.

It’s going to be the same situation as Polak, they’re going to dump the puck in his corner every time and put two forecheckers on him aggressively. He doesn’t have to get physically abused, he’s just going to be a free zone entry for them if he can’t move the puck in the 1 second window between collecting the dump in and having Hathaway+Foligno or Perry/Colton in his face.

They will of he can't move the puck, they will dump it into his corner and force him to make a play

If he can't get it out were going to be defending inside our own zone

That isn't good if you like to win

Thanks, that’s what I figured. Was wondering why anyone would pay a high price for someone who can’t stay in the lineup.

I respectfully disagree. It's up to the forwards anyway to slow up the forcheckers. If they don't not even Makar would be successful.

I don't get this one for Dallas. What a weird trade for them... I don't get it.

1) I think they wanted out from Gurianov, and he was probably a non-tender candidate for them after this year anyways.
2) I think they believe Dadonov has more to bring (he was a 20 goal guy last year on Vegas).
3) It saves them cap.
4) Rental market sucks for forwards. After Barbashev was dealt, Kane, JvR, and Domi are the only guys who are clearly available right now who are clearly better than Dadonov.
