If you don't know NRD, he had the ESPN scoop in 2019, and was bang on last year. He's essentially the best insider out there rn.

What I hate about the guy is that he feels he always have to tell he's the best insider out there. Every second tweet is about how he told us.

We get it you good. K.

It's a complicated thing, however it's not the Sharks. It's Evander Kane. He's in significant debt, and the debt he is owed, is tied to the income from his current contract with the Sharks (aka, future earnings). By mutually terminating the contract he is on, Kane will be able to file for bankruptcy, to relieve himself of some of the debt he's in that was leaned on his expected future income.

This won't be something where a team will be able to sign him right away in all likelihood. So people thinking we cans swoop in and sign him, shouldn't get too excited.
Cant say I'm well versed in this area but seems likely to me it's a bluff to try and negotiate a better debt/bankruptcy agreement.

In his original filing he also said he was considering opting out of this season which would have reduced his earnings. Except the deadline for players to opt out had already passed when it was filed and he didn't.

A lot of wishful thinking here that the Leafs will trade Andersen? I thought there was a legitimate rumour about it. Are we really expecting the Leafs as a playoff contender to trade their #1 goaltender because of some struggles?

I was all for it over the last off-season but... it's too late now.

There were a healthy dose of rumors prior to free agency the Leafs were shopping him in the off-season. But obviously nothing came of it.

I don't think there's been any credible rumors about a midseason trade.

So Bettman says the cap will remain flat, or near flat, for at least the next four seasons.

Essentially the current TV deals going straight to the owners and none of it will affect the cap.

Feels bad man.

Definitely a bit of a kick in the teeth because I do think the Leafs planned on it growing at least a little bit.

It's time for them to adjust.

Khudobin would absolutely be a guy to trust if Dallas were to tap out.
Something like this 100%
Cap staying flat, if we put a strong team in from t of an average to good goalie it will do the job
Get something for Anderson, maybe a 1st
Add a top 6 winger maybe another d upgrade?
Will allow us to extend some expiring contracts and have options going forward

Why would anyone give us a 1st for a 33 year old UFA with awful numbers?

Rickard Rakell in demand as he debuts on TSN Hockey Trade Bait board - TSN.ca

The hottest player in the National Hockey League has hit the TSN Trade Bait board.

Teams have been calling the Anaheim Ducks about Rickard Rakell, who has racked up 12 points in his past six games, and joins the list at No. 3 because GM Bob Murray isn’t hanging up the phone.

The price?

Two GMs were asked that question and without getting into specifics, each said, “It’s high.”

Rakell, 27, is a former all-star right winger and two-time 30-goal scorer. More importantly: Rakell has one year left on his deal with a reasonable $3.79 million cap hit – two critical caveats in this flat-cap pandemic world, particularly for teams averse to spending assets on rentals.

So, why would the offensively challenged Ducks (28th in scoring) be willing to listen on Rakell?

If the price is right, one could surmise three reasons:

1. Rakell would easily provide the best return on the roster for a franchise looking to jumpstart the rebuild process.

“I’m not going to sugar-coat anything. Our record is not good enough,” Murray told the Los Angeles Times this week. “And I expected to be better and we’re not and there’s no sugar-coating it.”

2. Moving Rakell would open up a spot for younger players hungry for more opportunity and ice time. Ideally, the Ducks would move out Adam Henrique or Jakob Silfverberg before Rakell, but their contracts are prohibitive – each with three seasons left.

3. Rakell will need a new contract shortly. He will turn 30 at the tail end of the first season of his next deal (2022-23), which doesn’t exactly fit Anaheim’s age scheme (see No. 2), and it will surely command a higher AAV. Moving Rakell now, as opposed to as a rental next season, would increase the return.

Rakell is one of five new Trade Bait names this week, including Boston’s Jake DeBrusk, Buffalo’s Colin Miller, Dallas’ Jamie Oleksiak and San Jose’s Marcus Sorensen.

DeBrusk raised eyebrows after Bruce Cassidy made him a healthy scratch last game, the result of a disappointing start to the season for the former 20-goal scorer.

Like Rakell, teams are calling, and the return would be similarly high for the proven playoff performer. The Bruins are hoping for a big response from DeBrusk, which would calm trade speculation, and help right the ship for a team with Stanley Cup aspirations that has scuffled (3-5-2) of late.

probably looking at a price similar (a bit less) to the Muzzin deal

1st + B prospect (Abramov, SDA, Abruzzese etc) + low end roster guy (Engvall/Vesey)

Khudobin would absolutely be a guy to trust if Dallas were to tap out.

Dallas may end up losing him to expansion, which could motivate them a little bit.

I don't think that is a mid-season move though. Might happen right before expansion or something.

If it happens right now, the price will be interesting. He's old, he is a tandem starter, and he (or Bishop) doesn't really have a role with their team going forward after this year. I am not sure he goes for a huge price TBH.

Any chance that we could see a deal centred around Nylander for Gibson + Rakell? Then we could flip Andersen in separate trade and appease the fanbase.

Would you say involves moving Nylander? They went heavy on all 4 but I don't see JT leaving. Matthews is never leaving. Marner has been well worth his contract.

Very doubtful.

I don't see the adjustment then.

I mean...going cheaper on goal? Sure, if it works, you look brilliant. I don't mind betting on a Driedger / Campbell tandem, it should still come in less than $5M.

I see Hyman returning.

Highly doubt this happens, Lowry from Winnipeg would be a nice addition for the third line center.

With Brodie added they don't have any immediate needs to spend more money over the next couple seasons. They just need to shave a bit of cap to pay Hyman. Rielly is also an issue, but it's up in the air what type of raise he would need

Getting a cheaper goalie to play with Campbell probably comes close to accomplishing that. If they loose Kerfoot or Engvall to Seattle there's a bit more money if they get cheaper replacements ect.

I also don't see a pressing need to trade Nylander anytime soon unless management feels they need to significantly shake up the core

Mirtle did float moving Kerfoot in a deal at the deadline as a means to do money in/money out essentially.

Want, sure, but they won't get that. Not with his production levels. Wingers scoring like he is, don't get 1sts + A prospects
he is not a pending UFA,,,so Ana is not forced/cornered to do anything

they can either get what they want or wait till next season/off season to make that kind of move

it's actually on the teams that want him,,to motivate the trade

Who says no?

To Toronto
John Gibson (6.4)
Rickard Rackell (1.9 retained)

To Anaheim
Freddy Anderson
Alex Kerfoot
Nick Robertson
Topi Niemela
2021 1st round pick.
2022 2nd round pick.

Elite goalie + retention on a bonafide top 6 winger, for cap dumps and some high end futures.
