Darren Dreger was on the NHL Network last night. The Rangers aren't in a rush to trade Del Zotto/won't trade him just to move him. He may end staying here the entire season.

Nice. Excellent. More distractions for the team.

The Rangers aren't in a rush to do anything. Sather just got a clean bill of health at his last check up so sit back and enjoy the next decade of your New York Rangers.

They have control over the contract, so if you can't get value now, you can always re-explore at the draft or next year. And, if you decide to move Girardi and/or Staal, you may want to keep him to play (and in so doing, hopefully improve his stock) anyway. Girardi is actually the highest priority for this reason.

You know, I can never actively root against the team when the games are on - I will always be cheering for even my least favorite player to make a play that helps the team pull out the win when they're actually one ice.

But objectively, it might not be the worst thing in the world for the team to go on a mini losing streak this month and clearly identify themselves as one of the bottom six teams in the league. At least that would (hopefully) force management to make a call on the team and commit to a direction, rather than half-assing it. They're only 1-2 losses away right now.

Coaches got to get him going..

Absolutely. Being clearly outside the hunt and sellers would be a good designation for a team that is always, in all facets, flip flopping in the middle with no direction or plan. Buying and going for it is clearly folly but seems possible nonetheless. A losing streak that drives home the error in following that course would do more good than harm.

A top 4 pick coupled with trading Girardi, MDZ, and Brassard (if not more) for prospects that strategically fit AV's system, will do wonders for the team moving forward.

Pitt had no reservations about trading Jordan Staal this offseason and they're a more complete team because of it. Competent management that has foresight and a plan... that's what begins the process for success.

Slats is a hardball GM, he will never just get rid of a player for the hell of it. Remember Scott Gomez? He not only got chris higgins (who at the time was trending up)but also ryan freaking mcdonagh. Brandon Dubinksy/Artem Anisimov? Try Rick Nash. Slats will not get rid of MDZ to get someone like cody franson. Requires a lot of patience from the paying fans tho.

this is true but what really hurt us was getting rid of Gaborik to fit torts's game.

Sadly the team doesn't have much room to develop, we have to be in win now mode until lundqvist completely degrades.

Pyatt to PIT for Jussi Jokinen?

Oh.. wait

Said it before and I'll say it again now.. Should've picked him up off waivers. Glen is a moron. Guy's been torching us non stop.

Yep. What this team really needs is a guy who has 3 goals in his last 26 games.

I'd keep Girardi but hope to target a more offensive minded top 3 quality damn to pair with McDonagh. Not an offense only guy, just a guy who moves the puck and shoots the puck better than Girardi and can play 20+. If we can only find a young player that needs 1-2 years before they can play there, then we let G play with McD until that player is ready to bump Girardi to the second pairing.

Callahan we move at the deadline because I think he will fetch a nice return. Possibly the dman above. People are saying get a pick and a prospect for Cally but if we could move Cally and another small piece for Byfuglien, for example, we fill a huge need immediately. Maybe I'm way off. WPG keeps asking for wingers and is loaded on the right side.

Try to move Del Zotto for a Brassard like player. Preferably someone with a bit more sandpaper. A project with upside for a project with upside. Add slightly to Del Zotto if we need to, a 2nd or a B prospect.

If we could ice:

Kreider - Richards - Nash
Hagelin - Stepan - XXX from Del Zotto trade
Pouliot - Brassard - Miller
Dorsett - Boyle - Moore
McDonagh - Byfuglien
Staal - Girardi
Allen/Moore - Stralman

We'd probably be better this season considering only Callahan and Del Zotto are missing from the above and neither has been playing much recently. In the off season, if we managed to buy out Richards and replace him with a guy like Stastny we'd look a whole lot better. Someone from Kristo, Fast, Lindberg, Hrivik should be ready to step in for Pouliot's spot, but a stop gap can be signed as well. Try to get a Fraser or Reaves type for the fourth line and keep Boyle there, assuming he doesn't look for much difference in salary. He's a good 4th liner. We just need to stop trying to use him liken he's more than that. Sign a bottom pairing vet dman for insurance.

That's the quick, sloppy version.

Kreisler - Stastny - Nash
Zuccarello - Stepan - Kristo/XXX
Hagelin - Miller - Brassard
Dorsett - Boyle - Fraser
McDonagh - Byfuglien
Staal - Girardi
Allen/Moore - McIlrath/XXX

Blah.

Del zotto Callahan Girardi 1st for eberle 1st.

If the Rangers want to move away from the country club, no effort mentality, Eberle is the last player we should be keying on.

Lazy, disinterested, plays no defense whatsoever, doesn't score nearly enough to make up for how bad he is.

And yet he's been a more productive player than Derek Stepan at a smaller cap hit!

We seriously couldn't have mustered up a conditional 7th for this guy? We'd automatically have at least 2 more wins from the fact alone that he wouldn't be playing against us..

Yet he wouldn't have been at that cap hit had we picked him up on waivers, which is what you were after this team to do. He's also playing on a much more competitive team with a stronger group of forwards.

We lost 5-2. Take away his 2 goals and we still lose that game. Not to mention trying to assess player benefit like that makes no sense.

I agree, Sather should sell (which he'll never do). Have an awesome draft and we'll be back with a vengeance next year.

As for Tyson Barrie, I think that might be the best you can get for Del Zotto. I would do Del Zotto for Barrie at this point

Outside the box, my friend.

If nothing bigger then, Siemens is less advanced for immediate AV cup run. But upside in potential requires NY to add.

MDZ + X for Siemens/+?

maybe MDZ + Staal for Siemens + Col 1st + small add?
