Kovy's slap shot isn't nearly as accurate as it used to be

Agreed, we talked about this a few months ago Iirc. It just needs to look at his stats sheet to see when his slapshot accuracy has dropped.

The assumption that he has less room to shot on a PP than 3 or 4 years ago could partially explain why he lost in accuracy though.

he is also moving a lot more on the PP and is often shooting from the blueline.

Doesn't explain the accuracy, but he's just flat out a different player than he was 3/4 years ago. Way more of a distributor, probably too much.

Only problem with Larsson on the PP right now IMO is his slapshot isn't that strong. He rarely shoots and most of the time is looking for a pass or deflection. If you have him on the PP, teams aren't going to respect his shot enough to make it dangerous.

Zidlicky has a strong slapshot so you can't leave him with space.. makes it more dangerous since he can beat you with his shot or with a pass. Larsson needs to strengthen his slapshot first IMO or teams will know exactly what he's going to do.

Slapshots are overrated on the point. Watch Edler and Karlsson on the PP and tell me you wish they were taking more slapshots.

He was -19, but I bet he had good CORSI numbers!:laugh:

Kovalchuk was -26 with good corsi numbers. ;)

My thoughts exactly, everything you said.

Deflectable wrist shots from the point are what you need with all the traffic at ES and no doubt Larsson is pretty awesome at it. But good PP units thrive under heavy, powerful shots from the points.

They thrive under a good balance.

Whether he has a strong shot or a good deflectable shot, teams have to respect it. If you have a guy who is good at deflections like Clarkson, a guy like Larsson is just as dangerous on the point in my opinion.

I agree on the idea that his shot needs to get better as there are times that may come when he needs to wind up and it's just not there right now.

larsson, greene and zids should all rotate the point along with kovy on the pp. while i dont want kovy there, and wish he was just always planted at the faceoff circle, thats not happening. so if hes gonna be a point man, have other offensive weapons there. prob why our pp sucks so bad.

Do you think CBJ would trade Prospal? Rental...cause I really do not see us getting any legit top 6 player that we can have to the foreseeable future

If we think we can go deep

They probably would. Not sure what they'd want? They extended him for a year in the middle of last season. I'm kinda surprised he re signed there.

Florida lost again. Keep up hope for Weiss. They're still only a few points outside of first in their division though!

Just throwing ideas around, are him and Patty familiar?

Henrique-Zajac-Kovalchuk
Prospal-Elias-Clarkson
Poni-Loki-Butler(Zubrus later)
CBGB (insert Barch vs Rangers and other rivals)

They've probably played with each other on national teams.

He left TB the year before they won the Cup, and then went back after. We could pick him up, and if he likes Columbus so much then he can just re sign there again in the off season. Just like he did when he was traded from TB to Philly in 08, and then went back again the very next season!

Our PP is actually 9th in the league currently.

Our PK is 22nd.:help:

And I think the PP looks pretty good for the most part. I'd think the offensive zone control time is pretty high. It does get a little too control oriented at times, where I'd prefer someone shoot just to create some havoc, but the overall results have been good.

While it wouldn't reach Ott territory, remember Elias isn't exactly a huge fan of Prospal given his comments a few years ago. Basically called Prospal a giant whiner when he was on the Rags.

interesting idea that hasnt really been brought up. but considering this "gentlemen's agreement" he has, it doesnt appear likely he will be dealt.

Absolutely no thank you on Prospal. We would be wasting anything we'd be trading, he's nothing special.

Very soft

We have no assets to move that will get us a legit top 6 player. We're no STL or EDM with good prospects out the ass that can move. We're likely goin to move a defensemen plus some meh prospects for a proven veteran

Also would love Ott. He can score and he can draw penalties, hit, and get under people's skin. Poni-Ott-Clarkson line

So Prospal was promised some sweetheart front office deal with the Jackets after his career ended? That explains why he wanted to stay there then.

That might not be on the table with the new GM though.
