We'd be idiots to pass on Jokinen. He makes three million, Pyatt makes what, 1.4? We have the room.

Just saw that Jokinen has another year on his contract after this one. Firm pass from me.

It's at 3 million. That's easy as pie to clear cap space. Even dumping just one roster spot frees the majority of that up.

There are somethings I am missing here.
Halpern had some value and was waived. Jokinen has more value and is being waived.

Carolina wants to shed the player salary. Semin will be making $7M next season. Skinner goes from $1.4M with bonuses to $5.725M. Jordan Staal goes from $4M to $6M. The Canes have $58M committed for next season. Rutherford wants to shed salary. The Rangers can't take on salary.

We have 12 Million to give to Stepan, McD & Hagelin, no way they average out to 4 Million a piece.

If we dump pyatt that gives us another 1.55. If we dump Boyle it's 1.7. So basically we need to find 1.45 max to make room for Jokinen.

We will need to also sign a #6 D next season. Gilroy, Eminger, Hamrlik, etc. Won't cost more than 1 million.

If we go with Haley over Powe, that's another 500K also.

We have the room. We could really use him. Now and next year. He would be a very good 3C. Especially on a team with no center depth.

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Richards-Gaborik
Miller-Jokinen-Callahan
Haley-Boyle-Asham

Edit: This isn't even including guys like Fast, Thomas, etc that are on EL's under a million, potentially bumping players like Boyle from the lineup. Also a potential Gaborik trade.

All other teams may have been telling them they want to send a player back. They may not want to do that.

Jokinen has value, there are a number of teams that need help on the top 9. It's unlikely that none of them was willing to trade a conditional 7th pick for him. Not impossible, just not likely IMO.

He is not a center, he was forced to play center on the Canes.

I think you overstating how easy that would be.

They didn't have value. If they had value they would be traded. Halpern damn-near cleared.

Hah

just saw the Jokinen rumor on another site and came to post about it.

this is someone in the past that we've almost went out of our way to trade for - we can't pass him up on the wire.

Than put him on the wing. Either on the 2nd line or 3rd line. Miller/Richards as his C.

I know he played LW most of his career, right? That's perfect. We have just as much depth there as we do at center, none.

Good riddance to Pyatt.

Hagelin-Stepan
Kreider/Jokinen-Richards
Kreider/Jokinen-Miller

Looks a lot better than Pyatt-Anything.
