Dorsett can kill penalties. The Rangers will owe LA a 7th if Carcillo is on the Rangers roster for the rest of this season. Carcillo gives the Rangers a player to use for the rest of this season. Dorsett returns from his broken leg. The Rangers will get more than a 7th for Boyle or Moore. They can get a 2nd. Good asset management. The Rangers traded a 3rd in 2010 for Boyle and this is his fifth season. They trade him for a 2nd. That's a good deal.

If the Rangers traded Carcillo for a 5th or 6th,would they owe LA a 7th?

Brooks reported the condition

Speaking of Carcillo, the winger has provided sandpaper to the lineup in his three games since being acquired on Jan. 4 from the Kings for a conditional seventh-round draft pick. The condition, The Post has learned, is No. 13 remains on the roster the remainder of the season. If not, the pick reverts to the Rangers.

I would too, but I mentioned that also knowing we'd likely never get that return. I think perhaps Elliot instead of Barrie would be closer to the ballpark.

Still, that all begs the question, why would the Avs do it? Do they really need the upgrade over McGinn?

Given that Sather asked for a #1 from the Avs for Del Zotto, I would think the Rangers would want a #1 in any package coming back for Callahan. Would you do Callahan and Boyle/Moore for Barrie, McGinn and a #1? Would the Rangers or Avs do it, for that matter?

I would make that trade. I would prefer to send Moore instead of Boyle but it if it had to be Boyle then I am fine with it.

McGinn would be a good replacement for Callahan. High energy forward who can hit and play either wing. Will probably cost about half of what Callahan wants to re-sign at the end of the year.

McGinn and Barrie would be a pretty impressive return for a pending UFA.

Callahan, Stralman, Boyle to Avs for McGinn, Siemens, McLeod, Heard, 1st in 2014??

rather go after Siemiens over Barrie. Rangers can use some size with toughness on the defense... Rangers get size that can play in McLeod (a lot grittier and plays wing, center and PK)

People who compare brown to Callahan are *****ing crazy... Brown is more talented and is a little dirty oh and he has a ****ing cup.... cally wishes he was Brown

Once again I don't believe I word that dumb ***** brooks says.... now if bob McKenzie said it than I would believe it
Is this a joke?

Yes, because they are a lot better than Carcillo. Same reason it would make sense to keep them over Carcillo.

I don't know. It seems plausible what Brooksy is saying. After reading that article I am much more confident that we sign Girardi than I have been.

Im going to guess it ends up at 6 years 5.25 million based on that article. Split the difference and call it a day. I would be very okay with that deal.

Callahan however, I am hoping we do not resign. If for no other reason than if we do sign him it will be a massive overpayment.

Uh, they literally play the same type of game. The comparison is just fine.

You seem to just hate Callahan.

No I don't hate him...but if he does get that contract he better score 25 goals a year... I'm sick of grinders I wish we could start to move toward puck possession players... Callahan doesn't fit AVs system

Yeah, people. Come on. That's totally insane.

If that evidences one major thing its that Brown stays healthier than Callahan.

Brown is good, but I wonder how much he has been carried by Kopitar and Williams over the years.

This makes too much sense to me. They have (2) valuable 4th line, UFA-to-be centers. Move one.

Pay the 7th for Carcillo, get a 2nd for Boyle or Moore. SJ did it last year. Why can't the Rangers.

Brown and Callahan are similar, but Brown has a slight edge. He is a harder hitter, is capable of staying healthy despite playing a physical game, and was a major points contributor during his team's cup run.

Garrioch has written a few times this season about McGinn being on the block

Trying to stay in the NHL playoff picture, Colorado GM Joe Sakic has been sniffing around to try to get a defenceman. I’ve been told that LW Jamie McGinn has fallen out of favour with Avs’ coach Patrick Roy and is being shopped around as part of a deal to try to get blueline help. McGinn, 25, has a cap hit of $1.75 million and will be an RFA on July 1. He’s still young enough that he could be an attractive option .
