Couturier is overrated, IMO, but it would be a bad trade for the Flyers, simply because if they're trading Couturier, they need to be getting a defenseman back.

Overrated? I can accept that. However, he is twenty and an excellent two-way forward and penalty killer. Trading him for Ryan ****ing Clowe would be an abomination.

If that happens, it would be an overpayment at least.

It would also mean Holmgren is feeling some kind of heat.

I don't think he's overrated by fans outside of Philly. He's a pretty fine player for a 20 year old.

He's about as good a shutdown C you'll find.

He's not an offensive player, though, people seem to overlook that.

I think the Flyers should definitely look into moving him for some D.

That's not the point, though. For Ryane Clowe? Lol. That's be a despicably bad move.

There's a guy in NY for Columbus. I remember when the Rangers went into St.Louis with Gaborik for the first time. Someone leaked to the St.Louis Post Dispatch that the Blues made an offer for Gaborik in 2009. JD was running the Blues at that time.

Brassard. Rangers #1 pick. Another asset.

Since John Davidson wanted to sign a 27 year-old Marian Gaborik as a UFA while running the 2009 blues, it makes sense that he would part with a 1st, a prospect, and Derick Brassard for a 31 year old Marian Gaborik at $7.5 million with one year left, mired in his worst season?

A rebuilding team trading 3 young assets and taking on $5 million dollars for one year of Gaborik. Sounds logical.

Do I even have to mention that Brassard has 18 points this year and Gaborik has 19?

Why are you here. Do you see what big ticket players go for when they have a very limited NTC like Gaborik. He's going to get a decent package if he is traded. That said, he won't be.

You won't get "big ticket" value for a guy like Gaborik or Brad Richards at their current production, age, and contract status.

That's just a realistic view - not a personal knock on the guys. I'd be happy to have Gabby on the CBJ, but if anything it would be a bad contract swap and sending the NYR a top 4 defensman to shore up their blue line and replace Staal.

Gaborik is a big contract to move...people posting here were acting like it's no big deal for a team like the CBJ to take on a guaranteed $15 million commitment without shedding much salary and a lot of their own FAs (BOB, Letestu, Ansimov, Calvert) to deal with. On top of the huge Wiz, Umberger, and Tyutin contracts they are stuck with (This is a team that loses money every year and is not a cap team). Adding a $7.5 million forward is just not as simple as people on this board are making it out to be.

Gaborik's resume speaks for itself but that doesn't mean you don't consider that fact that Brass has been just as productive as him this year.

Here we go... I just received confirmation that Ryane Clowe is not playing for the Sharks tonight.

and Sather.....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

i hope he remembered when the trade deadline is this year...

We were not getting Jay-Bo or Regher. Don't know why people are complaining

im not complaining that they didnt get them. im complaining that Sather hasnt cut the dead weight that NYR doesnt need :help:

"@JSportsnet: Can confirm that TML have been given permission to talk to MKirprusoff directly. #TradeTracker"

Smart move by the Leafs to ignore Vancouver's begging. They can accomplish several goals by picking Kipper over LOLuongo
