Big body left wing with experience that they can plug in various areas of the lineup. He doesn't even have to score, if he can effectively create space for a guy like Richards/Gabs; he will have been worth it. Lets be honest here, Clowe would be the most physical LW we would have on this team.

It can't hurt us, its worth a shot. If its a bust, you just don't resign the guy.

Yeah, I'm not against getting him at all. He would be an upgrade to the bottom 6, but for the price being thrown around (or even if it ended up just a 1st rd) no way.

I'm not saying I wouldn't take him period. I already said he would be an upgrade to the bottom 6, but thats what we should be trying to buy him as, because thats the player he seems to be now.

I don't think anybody here is saying otherwise, except for crazy people.

He would be playing with Richards probably though if he were here, not really bottom 6

He makes less than Gaborik, so I can't see how that's the case.

Not enough that he still wouldn't be a major obstacle resigning our guys. Gaborik can be moved over the summer even at his price tag(although the return may not be all that great)if they need space. Moving Dan Boyle could be way more of a headache.

It might put us in a situation where you would have to buyout Richards over the summer. I don't see the organization doing that yet.

Gaborik wouldn't be going the other way. so we'd be adding 6,666,667 to the cap without Mcdonagh, Hagelin and stepan signed.
My bad, I thought you were saying that was a reason the trade wouldn't make sense.

So I just noticed Eklund lists his cell phone number on his twitter profile. The ****? Looks like a certain Deep Throat has a long night ahead of him.

I am not watching the Sharks game, but looking at the box score, Clowe has 5 minute major for fighting, 3 BS and 3 hits. Maybe that shoulder is fine after all.

There's no shot we dont make a move especially for Clowe, were in the race for the playoffs I can't imagine Sather not doing anything. My gut tells me Clowe will be a Ranger within a week.

Why can't you imagine Sather not doing anything? What did he do last year when the window of opportunity to actually win a cup was opened?
He got John Scott!!

Even if its not, it doesn't seem like something that would stop him from playing his game. He's a competitor. thats why teams want him for the second season, or at least to help to get there.

Again, we don't know what the final deal is going to be. But I seriously doubt it will involve a first round pick.

If its like Bryan Boyle, and a 4th, I can't imagine not doing the trade.

Here's my question, why are the Rangers even looking into Boyle knowing that they have 3 key RFAs to resign this off season?

Because Gaborik will be gone and he is making more then Boyle. No way Gabby is here next year if they make a trade for him. I wouldn't be shocked if he is traded for Boyle.

They may have been kicking tires. But I don't think, for a second, that it got nearly as far as Dreger wants to portray it.

I do think the Rangers REALLY want that hard shooting Dman for the PP. But I don't think they believe Dan Boyle is the answer.

This is whats irritating.

Richards was brought in to be the PP saviour and to put it mildly, hes failed, so now they want another over the hill ex-Bolt in ****ing Dan Boyle with a large cap hit to fix the PP. (Earth to Tortorella, 2004 was nine years ago).

Enough already.

And they wanna do it for 40 goal Gaborik?

Gaborik has played pretty well lately despite not scoring. Regardless of his current slump, hes a former 40 goal guy, and id rather not trade him for an over the hill Boyle and instead on something better at the draft.

and Ryane Clowe offers zero offense to this team.

If Gaborik is being moved, immediate offense needs to be coming back in some form.

You dont trade a 40 goal guy for ********.

If I'm trading Gabby, I want a young C/LW coming back, NOT an over-the-hill 2004 Bolt.

Enough with the retreads, holy ****.

because they know they can trade gaborik if needed and have another amensty buyout...

Regardless.

Boyle belongs nowhere near this team.

If they trade Gaborik and buyout Richards all for him? ****ing waste.

point is you can figure out the cap for next year over the summer if you feel the price is right and he could help you win this year...

plus there are pretty good odds that gaborik is traded and richards gets bought out over the summer whether we get boyle or not, so the trade won't necessarily force those moves.

Just so everyone remembers, we do have a solid amount of money coming off this season with the Drury and Redden buyouts.
