...and look what Iginla got. Or look what Hossa or Kovalchuk returned (roster player, prospect, 1st). There simply is no way, that Clowe, having a very bad year also, returns a 1st, 2nd and a good prospect.

iginla is 35 years old. nash is 28 and under contract for 5 more years. are u going to use any comparable players/stats/past trades tonight or is everything u post going to be ridiculous?

Just going by the Sharks asking price.
 
With Zucc, Kreider, Miller, Hags , FAST and more skilled very good forwards on the way the Rangers need 1 or 2 Clowe or Ott type forwards but these guys need to be home grown because the asking price is nuts.

Iginla has also been a significantly better player than Nash his entire career. Even last year a 34 year old Iginla outproduced Nash last season. He is also a player who's never had linemate help his entire career. His numbers will go up exponentially being fed pucks from Krejci instead of Matt Stajan.
 
Well what team is out there that will give up a first and a prospect that Clowe would waive his NTC and move away or with his family for?

So you really think the asking price is always the final price? And if they ask for a superstar in return, Sather will give them Nash? Trading with you must be great...

and hes also 34-35 and without a contract. they arent remotely comparable trades.

Especially since the Sharks will have less and less leverage the closer we get to the deadline.

Iggy apparently wants an extension ASAP with the team he's being traded to.

With his pedigree and his work to stay fit, I expect multiple 30-40g seasons from him in the near future.

With all due respect to Iginla, any organization needs to put itself and it's future first. This is going to cost Feaster his job.

Boston isn't giving him that extension that's for sure. They have about 6 mill in cap space and no goalies signed.

This, in of itself, is not going to cost feaster his job. I'm sure he went to ownership and ran it past them considering the high profile of Iggy.

You aren't going to put any team "over the barrel" with a 35 year old player who is UFA over the summer. Iggy will most likely just resign with Calgary for next season.

So, Calgary got some ok pieces for a guy who will play, at most, 2.5 months away from your team.

I am big Gabby fan but here's why I do this. Clowe is the closest thing to the Hartnell or Lucicesque power forward out there, outside of those two. Dan Boyle, after Karlsson and Doughty is probably the third best puck rushing defenseman thats a right handed shot. Gordon is a righty shot, good on draws, pk, utility guy that is basically Powe and Halpern rolled into one. Morris is a physical, right handed shooting defenseman that is experienced in tight checking systems.

This gives Torts five defensemen that can play the most amount of minutes any night, and easily the best D in the league. You get a power foward, and an top 4 PMD, and a top 4 capable shutdown defenseman, and provided the newly acquired assets a re-signed at a reasonable cap hit. Plenty of cap space for next year with a tougher team that is built like the B's upfront, and the Hawks on D.

Not really when you still have to sign Rask, who damn well is going to be making more than the 3.5 he is making now

Nathan Horton is a UFA next season, his money isn't included in the capspace they have available.
