Claiming Konopka would fulfill Glen's annual "random goon acquisition for no reason" quota I guess

so i guess most Rangers fans like seeing the team night in and night out lose fights whenever they actually decide to stick up for each other.. losing fights is also a way to give the other teammate momentum.. this is why as much as Im glad that Boyle does stick for his teammates, it usually gives the other team momentum :shakehead

Again, who goes in place of Cally? Miller shouldn't be sent down. My money is on him but he absolutely should not be sent down again.

That entire line has actually provided energy, solid checking, and some good secondary scoring.

Miller playing in OT with Poo however gives me hope that someone else will be sent scratched. Hags is on the upswing. Kreider, Nash, and Step are gonna remain in tact. Richards, Brassard, and Zucc have shown flashes.

My guess is that Dorsett will get an extended sit until his wrist heals fully. After that, Moore should be the odd man out. But then who gets slotted down to the 4th line? Better not be Miller there either.

Tough decision for AV.

We also have 8 defenders. A healthy McI could make 9.

A trade needs to happen, soon. Roster spots need to be open. Some of our younger players need to get fair shakes to see what we have moving forward.

DZ + Brassard. Start there.

If you're Sather, you simply can't go into an offseason thats contingent upon losing or winning a bidding war for Callahan and Girardi.

The decision regarding if they will be Rangers next season should be made already. Assessing things in the summer and having them possibly walk for nothing (or massively overpaying them) is a real **** way to run an organization.

You are correct in your belief that the decision regarding both Callahan and Girardi should have already been made internally. For while, yes, both players have been warriors, the fact that Ranger core is built around two players without elite skill is a strong indicator of why this team's success is usually limited to 2nd round playoff exits. By maximizing the trade value of both players, the Rangrs have a chance to add truly skilled young players to build around.

Hey if the Rangers want to tank, grab Konopka for the 4th line C spot and trade Boyle. Recoup assets, don't force a youngster to play before they are ready.

I think it will be either Miller or Moore.

Really? Show me the evidence.

Brian Boyle is on pace for a disappointing 16 points this season.

Konopka has 22 points in his last 300 NHL games, however.

But yeah, TOFFNESS.

The only time it would be acceptable to replace Boyle with Konopka is if we're trying for Reinhart.

Come to think of it, go ahead and do it. Suck for Sam is back!

Ken jets- Good question. I don't know.

Miller shouldn't be demoted.

Do you demote POO after 7 pts in 8 games?

Hagelin???

BR/Brass???

That leaves one of the 4th lineers. Could rotate them.

And I stated as much. IF they want to move Boyle and don't want to force a youngster to play before they are ready grab Konopka.

I realized right as I posted it that you said the same thing .

Suck for Sam will be back with a vengeance. Amirite?

Probably the only scenario where this move makes sense. So yeah, this move makes no sense.

Yeah, he isn't an upgrade over what they have, but if they can find a suitor for Moore or Boyle, I'd consider it.

Wasn't directed specifically at you. If Boyle can bring in a decent asset I would consider it, but there are people in here suggesting Konopka is an upgrade, which is...

Ah, alright, my apologies.

I guess my thoughts are:

Boyle < Konopka + 3rd '14

Boyle > Konopka

I think either would be acceptable, honestly.

Miller at center getting all offensive zone starts while producing little offense is hurting the Rangers.

Pouliot has been producing mostly on the PP, anyways.

I'd honestly rather not bring in a replacement and just let Lindberg play limited minutes if needed. If we're selling all out, I don't see much value in brining Konopka on. If we're not selling and just shuffling the deck for the umpteenth time than a better replacement can be brought on as part of the return for DZ or Girardi or whomever else we move. I think this is Konopka's last year that he'll find an NHL contract. He's washed up.

Serious question:

Would Konopka return a late round pick at the deadline from a contender looking to beef up for their playoff run? I would think so.
