I get where your coming from, but this team is just not good to goaltenders, despite what our defensive analytics say. For as much talk as there is about how soft goals cause our players to deflate, what about the opposite? Having a braindead Bouchard giveaway every period, or allowing a shorthanded breakaway in the dying moments of a 1g game to the other teams best player, or pucks deflecting off our guys and in seemingly every other game. Those probably deflate a goalie a bit too. Those same issues will be here with Gibson, and they need to be tightened up before I'm ready to throw Stu away, like we did with Dubnyk.
Im not saying don't get a goalie, he shouldn't have been a starter all these years imo. I'm saying don't get rid of him at his lowest value, like we are all too familiar with. Imagine someone along with Janmark scored in G7 and we won, suddenly Stu is a cup winning G under 27 who put up better numbers than a legend in Bobrovsky, signed for under 3m. His value would be so much higher, and not due to any change in his play, but rather the team in front of him playing to their potential on offense.
Imo, Pickard is where we need an upgrade. He is a career journeyman that the team doesn't trust to take the reins (for good reason), there is no potential there whatsoever. And he isnt a guy that Stu has to strive to outplay, because everyone and their dog knows that this isn't, nor will it ever be Pickards team.
