Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

I don't really care if the Oilers add anything other than a goalie. Signing Klingberg to a 1.7M dollar deal without knowing about Kane was stupid. Grabbing Kapenen off of waivers was stupid. You can put Kap on waivers, move Klingberg, and try to convince J Skinner to waive, or move Janmark, to free up space to get a goalie at 50% retention.

and you've been on the "goaltending will fix everything!" line for way too long

the problems run deeper than that...I know it's tough to accept, but it's the truth
Ultimately it's VERY hard to properly address what the issues are with goaltending like this.
Its hard to properly address guys play when they have zero trust in their goaltending.

Goaltending won't fix anything but teams with good goaltending are able to mask team issues that take a move or some soul searching to find. When your team is down on themselves and the goalies are allowing everything in its hard to get out of that funk.

Fixing goaltending won't solve everything but its the #1 issue in the org that is actually addressable by a single trade and will have the biggest impact on the team.

Like we have pointed out before. When this team is playing like they can, goaltending is the issue. Thats why you solve it in a hurry.

Goalie is in fact the biggest problem. We know you have some sort of agenda to support management, although it's not clear what or why that is.
oh im a management bootlicker now...

go throught my post history and please quote me when i supported management and said anything good about them, not from july. You'll even find i didn't want Bowman as Gm if you do.

I just choose not to lose my shit over a hockey team.

Bob's save % when he got to Florida
.900
.906
.913
.901

dude was making 10 million a year
so average then. sorry for using the word joke.

With Bobrovsky we probably wouldn't have Draisatl or McDavid. So we wouldn't have made it that far.

Or you know all the shit salary we spent on overpaying Nurse, stupid buy outs, $5 million spent on Campbell, $5 million on Kane, then remove Skinner's 2.6 million as well, etc. etc.

No team is perfect and every team has problems.

Unfortunately bad goaltending is one of the hardest ones to overcome even if the rest of the team is solid.

I'm telling you right now, Gibson's save percentage would plummet if he was on the Oilers with the way they are playing right now

Don't think Florida is complaining too much.

The upset against Boston in 2023 is one for the ages too, arguably the two biggest upsets in modern NHL playoff history are both largely due to Bob (Tampa and Boston going down to bottom seeds).

No one gave Florida any chance of beating Boston in 2023.

The reality is we are stuck in a vicious cycle.

The goalies play okay when the team is structured in front of them (last couple months of 2024).
The team plays confidently and structured when the goalies are playing okay.

The goalies are slipping so the team goes off the rails, playing with fear of being scored on, which then makes it impossible for the goalies to get back on track.

I’d believe that if they didn’t have like 3 years of solid play before this to prove otherwise.
3 years? Maybe a year and a half max.

Boston are notorious choke artists. It's not really that surprising if you think about it.
