Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

This is where McDavid and Drai having any kind of influence on the makeup of the team would really come in handy. One phone call to Katz either it's Harrison or Daryl

Drai’s body language after last game suggested he WAS unhappy. I believe (fear) both he and Connor have pled their case for a new goalie but the powers that be are holding firm… for no discernible reason.

I like Soderblom as a low risk gamble.

Soderblom, Reichel, and Connor Murphy for 1st 2026, 3rd 2027, Kapanen, Petrov, Rodrigue and Klingberg.

Pickard to the AHL to be org no. 3.

Any three of Soderblom, Reichel, Murphy and Donato would go a long way for us. I’d even give up a very good prospect on top to close that deal. But I sadly don’t think it is likely.

I think the team, the group, has lost confidence and trust in their goaltenders, it's bleeding into the rest of their game. They have to change for change sake at this point, sincerely.

I'm sure McDavid and Drai have more power over Jackson or Stan. The fact they live so close to Daryl Katz too

This group of individuals is broken. Worse from the Summer of Jeff and the coach is out of answers repeating "fragile ... fragile" loss after blowout loss. The only goaltender deal might be a full boat Gibson swinging a cap dump Arvy to cut down the cost. Will cost this badly managed team a first and more assets but they can absorb the deal in future years. Add Dumo on top and this team might have some hope to stand up to true elite built competition.

But there's holes throughout all areas. Lots of work and few assets to fix.

So I disagree that it's flawed, hopeless group. They aren't perfect, but they're better than this run, they've lost all faith in their goaltenders and it's having a significant affect on the team's play. They need saves and aren't getting them.

This was the best team in the league for like two months - they can get back to that level of play, but I just don't think that management is going to make the move in net that they need to in order to have it happen.

I don't get how you at least don't get another backup and say sorry to Pickard and ship him to Bako - like at least SOME kind of change

Agreed, though I still think you replace them both, it's a risk, but DO something different so the team gets a different option.

Didn’t say the word hopeless. That’s yours. Flawed. The team defending is a trainwreck and goaltending can’t bail it out. They have limited assets with no miracle trade coming. It will cost them big to fix. No one in a tight, competitive environment is bailing them out of their self induced poor management decision making.

Morning after a full and complete shit kicking by the 26th overall team on the scoreboard where there were bad goals allowed and not a peep rumour wise two days ahead of the deadline.

I figured there’d be at least some sort of whisper. Bowman & Jackson are probably still in the press box wondering if they should show their faces in public or hide out in the panic room.

They're set for life. What do they have to worry about? This team got embarrassed by arguably the worst team to ever make the playoffs in the Blackhawks back in 2020 and it was just business as usual for the cretins up top.

Ok, Dramatic change in goal, go in a completely different direction (it is a risk obviously)

To BOS: Stuart Skinner and Kemp

To EDM: Korpisalo, 2025 3rd and EDM's 2026 4th

Boston gets a cheaper, shorter termed back up and a maybe on the blueline. Oilers get a guy who might look better in a different spot.

To OTT: Pickard and Bos 2025 3rd.

To EDM: Anton Forsberg (50% on the cap)

Ottawa gets a cheaper back up for Ullmark, the Oilers get a look at a guy who's had some success, just keeps getting banged up.
Thank goodness fans are not GM. You do realize Korpisalo has not had a .900% in over two years? His save percentage is worse than Skinners.

Lol McDavid doesn't have a 5on5 point in 11 games and we're thinking a goalie is going to fix everything. The goalies weren't playing that bad when the team started playing poorly, though they have been bad since the break.

They have a lot more to figure out than a goalie. Last night was absolute garbage.

I suspect if there is a goalie trade, it will be for a stop gap like Talbot and not an actual long term solution.

Someone who has better numbers than our guys (not hard) but not someone who can be relied upon long term.

That’s just my guess.

this is the worst part...they traded their precious few assets for Frederic, who won't play for a few weeks
the unproductive players all have NMCs so we couldn't trade them if we wanted
and no assets for a decent goalie

we better hope Kane returns to his 2022 playoff form

They are hitting up against a brick wall of fatigue/mental exhaustion from the Finals last year.

You can't have massive holes in your lineup (yes, like the ones we have in net) and think you can just cruise to 1st in your division.

The Avs core has won a Cup have they not? So you can't say "they don't know how to win!". They've been sitting in 7th/8th in the conference all year long because mainly their goaltending was really shit for several months.

Why is it the Oilers are expected to massively outperform that? Our roster otherwise is not at all if any better than the Avs, it really just boils down to some Oiler fans thinking Connor and Leon should just always some how carry the team to better than expected results.

I'm glad McDavid is not bailing the team out and the management is being forced to sweat. It's the only way they're ever going to develop any self awareness about the shit job they're doing.

There's no offense coming from anyone who isn't Leon. They had 2 weeks off. What are they tired from, exactly?
