Wonder if there’s a way to land Namestnikov/Kreider.

Rangers are looking to shed so may be able to get them “cheap” but doubt it.

Kreider and Namestnikov are upcoming UFA, so that doesn't make sense, imo.

I'm sure the Rangers would like to dump Shattenkirk and/or Staal and/or B. Smith, but given the fact we've got Zaitsev, Hainsey and Boro this season (+ the glut of young defencemen coming up) that doesn't seem like a fit either.

Strome makes some level of sense, since he's an RFA when his deal is up (and is probably a better player than Namestnikov if we're being honest). He'd be another guy taking up a spot from a rookie, but if the org's plan is to be bad they may want to keep everyone not named Batherson in the AHL anyways. He's also only 26, so still (somewhat) in line with the age of the core.

I actually wonder what the Rangers would give us to take on the last year of Matt Beleskey's deal. Boston retained some salry before moving him to NY, so he's only got $1.9 million owed this season. It's not an outrageous amount of money in the grand scheme of things and the Rangers could be dealing with serious cap issues depending on what Trouba signs for. Could be worth inquiring if the Rags get desperate.

It's kind of crazy how quick that team got themselves into cap "trouble".

Now we are after Point ( eklund )

Borderline too useless to even speculate on given it's Eklund, but it's also the middle of summer and I'm bored out of my skull.

Colin White + SJS 1st 2020 ++
Erik Brannstrom + Chris Tierney + SJS 1st 2020 ++
Erik Brannstrom + Colin White ++

I have no worldly idea what we could even give Tampa assuming they want to compete right now.

EM did say they were going to be at the cap floor this yr & that's exactly where they are headed & find themselves. They're rebuilding with youth & youth on ELCs are cheap, the budget should increase as these young guys move on from their ELCs but how much he is willing to increase his budget is anyone's guess. If they are competitive I would guess he would increase his budget accordingly, but if he is still having financial difficulties he may not. I guess we'll know for sure when the time comes & not before.

I would make this deal for Laine RW.

Norris - Brown - Laine
Tkachuk - Byfield - Batherson
Laine is soft though

Well assuming they deal Point they'd have like ~$6 million in space.

Would be enough to take back one of White/Tierney/Pageau as a replacement at center.

Still not sure it makes sense for either side, as the sens would obviously have to tack on tons of futures, which hurts the rebuild and doesn't do much for a Lightning team trying to win now.

Pageau makes $300k more in salary than his cap hit this season.

Bye bye JGP :(

Also, Ryan (extra $250k) and Tierney (~$37k) fit the bill.
Losing Pageau will make me so sad. Easily my favorite player. The one who gave me my best hockey memory, and I've been a fan since '97 when I moved to Ottawa.

It's so annoying to see EVERY trade is motivated by money with this team.
While I think it's a good trade for us, you know money is the driving factor here.

It isn’t likely to happen, but any deal for Point WOULD likely be built around White There would obviously be more going out from us. What would the plus be though? Brannstrom would be too much, and Wolanin might not be enough. So maybe that difference is bridged by picks + someone else.

No way Brannstrom would be too much for Point. They would have to give up a fair bit more than that.
