RNH for Seth Jones

Eberle for Simmonds

EDM 1st (top 3 protected) + Schultz + Yakupov for Hamonic + Strome

Hall Draisaitl Simmonds
Pouliot McDavid Strome

Sekera Hamonic
Klefbom Jones
Nurse Gryba
Reinhart Ference

I wouldn't hand over any more high-end prospects to the Islanders. We already gave them Barzal, we don't need to make their prospect pool any better, we need to make ours a hell of a lot deeper. I'm only throwing in that 2016 1st if theres a legit #1 stud coming back on the blueline, not on for Hamonic who's a very good player but not a guy who will patrol the d-zone and put up points for years to come.

How many teams need 6 high-end forwards? For the love of god, Chiarelli please balance this team out.

Eberle by all means is completely expendable. There's zero reason to have a complementary, offense-only player on your team, when your icing out the worst D corps in the league.

If Yakupov had any substantial value I would say trade him instead, but he's tenacious and is a ~ppg player beside McDavid at 2.5M/yr. It would be wrong to trade him away for scraps.

Our forward skeleton should be:

Hall - RNH - Draisaitl
Pouliot - McDavid - Yakupov
XXX - XXX - XXX
XXX - XXX - XXX

Klefbom - XXX
Nurse - Sekera
XXX - Schultz

Talbot/Nilsson

These are the players we should base this team around. Everyone else is fodder.

Why in God's name would we build around Yakupov? He should be the first to go.

Have you looked at the Oilers record over the last number of years....it doesn't matter anymore.

Earth to Matilda....we are not dealing from a position of strength.

Give me a break. Any GM trading RNH for the crap you proposed would be lynched and probably fired before the players coming over played an actual game for the team.

Yes. That late first round pick in exchange for Yak will work wonders for this team. :roll eyes:

Chemistry with McDavid dontchyaknow! ;)

2.5M and played at a PPG rate with McDavid. Not unreasonable to think they'll continue to have chemistry.

But please, enlighten me on how I'm wrong and you're right.

It's absolutely astounding how this team is last in the league and on the verge of an internal mutiny, and some people think trading Yakupov is the solution.

News Flash: Yakupov isn't worth jack **** in this league. And he's not a burden on his team, so why the **** are we talking about trading Yakupov?

You need to give some to get some people...

I think it would be wise to build Yak's value up a bit with McDavid again before moving him. The Oilers aren't exactly doing themselves any favors playing him with Letestu and Hendricks..

If Yakupov was a true, first overall talent, he'd make the players around him better.

He can't do that. He relies on others to make his offense.

We have enough of those types, which is why we lose so many games.

I'd kill to move Yak for 2 defensively sound 30 point 3rd liners.

I'd love it so much if this team had a Brendan Gallagher type player.

It would be nice if we could deal Eberle for a defenseman and replace him with Loui Erisson in free agency.

We should draft McDavids old linemates Debrincat this year. Small fiesty and has 45 points in 25 games

Pretty sure this chemistry could occur with anyone.

Sure it could, but in reality it hasn't. On paper a lot of people thought McDavid/Hall was going to turn into the most dynamic duo in the league. But when they actually played together they actually made each other worse. Until you have actual proof of McDavid having that kind of chemistry with any other player you have to hang onto Yak. Look at how long Pitt has been trying to find a guy to pair with Crosby. Why risk having to go through that same kind of a struggle when you've got a guy here already?

Hall is pretty much the hardest player on the team (besides Yakupov) to have chemistry with. I said in another thread that it was HUGE for the Oilers that they finally found somebody with chemistry with Hall in Draisaitl. Hall needs to be the puck carrier on his line and that pretty much eliminates a huge part of McDavid's game, and neuters RNH and Eberle. Draisaitl seems to have found that perfect balance between driving the play and deferring to Hall to work.

Never said you were wrong.
Just seems sad that Yakupov's whole value is tied to McDavid right now. Yak can have value though.
You're right.

I'd love to draft him but depends where he goes, if he keeps up his pace he will probably be a late to mid 1st and would be a reach with our likely top 5-7 pick.

Andrew Shaw would be a good target. He's upcoming RFA, Hawks might not be able to afford him and Kreuger, something like Davidson + 3rd might work. Guy is a pain in the ass, he's physical, good two way player, can play W or C, can move up and down the lineup and can probably be a 15-20 goal 30 pt player here.

Agree that Hall and Drai have great chemistry so far.
Disagree that he's so hard to play with. Hall and McDavid didn't connect for 2 NHL games. I bet they would have worked it out.
One of Yakupov's best stretches was rookie season, with Hall.
RNH looked great with him this season even before Drai.
That line makes Purcell look like a player.
Eberle has looked great with Hall in the past and would probably look better with him right now.

So who is it Hall can't play with?

Yah agreed, it was a pretty small sample size with Hall. I don't think Yak had any special chemistry with McD but Yak definitely had better confidence because of the lines success.

Nuge/Yak/Ference to get some money off the books. Having Crosby and McDavid as the two top centres is a good thing. The bottom 6 needs to be completely overhauled however...

I'd trade Nuge++ for Crosby.

Nuge hopes that a good year is as good as Crosby's down year.

I would guess that the Pens would be looking for a big time D-man that we don't really have to go along with a 2C+ replacement for Crosby. Malkin is still a nice 1C to build around and they have been super weak on D lately.
