Has...............???

Schultz value has plummeted since then. Nothing like a couple of seasons in the NHL to expose a player.
.

Has Schultz value plummeted?...........I don't know?.........in your eyes...yes...but It's eyes of the beholder.........some posts I read has stated that Schultz was starting to have a good season before the injury.

Perhaps, that why the delay in the trade (wait until Schultz gets back to playing).

Remember, Hamonic is a 2 or 3 pairing defensemen in NY.

Eh, if Gagner was a solid 50 point C with an NHL-level two-way game, I'm pretty sure the Isles bite on a package of, say Gagner + Schultz.

You'd probably be able to extract something else out of them too.

Maybe something like Hamonic + Martin or Lee.

LOL if Gagner wasnt Gagner at all...

Hamonic is their #1 D by ice time, and it's not close. It's not a great D though imo, and we should realize that in the west, he won't be quite as good.

Don't forget this isn't the first time Schultz has had back issues. He had it in his rookie season just not as bad as this time. His back issue may pop up again since Schultz has a bulging disc.

Hamoninc is a very effective 23-25 minute dman. He plays more minutes on the Islanders than any other dman.
He is a big minute defenceman.

Schultz is a bottom pairing dman at this point in time....so...yes...I think his value has dropped off considerably in the last couple of years.

It would take a significant add from the Oilers to make a Schultz deal even remotely attractive to the Islanders.

I have been saying for a while now that the Oilers really dont have the pieces to make this deal work unless another team is involved.

Hamonic plays 23:23 per game
Boychuk plays 22:02 per game
Leddy plays 21:38 per game
de Haan plays 20:37 per game

I'm not downplaying Hamonic because he does have the highest ice time... but the other 3 in their top 4 are actually reasonably close in ice time.

Boychuk plays more on the PP and PK than Hamonic does.

Leddy plays more on the PP than Hamonic does.

Hamonic is actually #1 in EV TOI, #3 in PK TOI and #4 in PP TOI per game.

When Schultz is back, I hope the team moves Gryba or waives him.

Or, maybe they can finally move Nikitin.

Moving Ference is a dream.

The question is, if Schultz plays a few games and looks really good, scoring some points and continuing from what he looked like before getting injured, do we trade him for Hamonic while his value is high (with us still adding of course) or do we keep our emerging PMD?

Trade him for Hamonic all day everyday.

I hate schultz yet I'd still hold out.

Trade Fayne + first. Hold out.

Hamonic is not a guarantee and is signed.

I'd rather trade Schultz than the first.

The first has a reasonably good chance of being Top 3. You could get a franchise d-man (or another franchise C) with that pick in this year's draft.

Who exactly has RNH made better? He can keep up to players but when his line is going usually Hall or Eb's is driving it.

He is probably our best 2 way player on the team period. Its hard to understand why we would want to trade RNH, we just had a massive center problem. You can play Leon with Hall and RNH, McDavid with Eberle and Pouliot. Those are 2 lines that teams would have a tough time containing.

I don't think we have as big a problem on defence as some suggest, its juts going to take a year or 2 to blossom. Hamonic is not going to be a saviour at all, some suggesting Eberle for him is ridiculous. I see Fayne, Yakupov, Schultz, being on the block long before Eberle. If the same response of he s worth more is the reason, well yeah he is worth more for a reason. It hasn't been our defensive game, its been we can't score enough, Hamonic won't fix any of that.

We are playing extremely better, we are definitely going to take the turn soon, no reason for panic.

I would trade Eberle for Hamonic. We need D, I agree Eberle is great nice to have and our forward depth isnt great but we have been doing this high end forwards crap D thing for awhile and we need a change.

Hamonic is a great D, the type we need, and I think a change is needed even if it is tough. And we would have an extra 2 million in cap space

No offense to Ebs but he's a talented and skilled passenger right now.

Hall and RNH are both drivers. Dealing RNH, our best two-way C, is lunacy.

There is no reason to overpay for a player who's had 2 concussions and wants to leave a semi-contender for shady reasons.

There is no guarantee he would want to stay here in the long run. Add the risk for a 3rd concussion and suggestions like Eberle or RNH falls flat.

Yak or Schultz and a 2nd. And even then it's a slight overpayment.

If you look at the last 4 years, Eberle is our top scorer. Are you suggesting he is past his prime or something? If you trade every player judged on the last 5 games, you are going to have a lot of turnover.

Shady reasons?

We don't even know his reasons other than they're personal...why do we have to label them as shady?

Shady as in unclear. Perhaps I use the word wrongly. What I ment was reasons that seem unclear and as thus unpredictable. My sentiment still stands tho.

It's a valid concern. He is having some sort of issues/crisis in his personal/family life... so much so that he feels he needs to leave the team he currently plays for.

The details of those personal issues are unknown to the general public. They may or may not have an effect on his play going forward as well... no matter where he plays. He's a professional and I'm sure will try his best not to let those problems off the ice affect him on the ice going forward.

Now WE don't know what those issues are... but I think it's safe to say that any GM that is in talks to trade for him will be made aware of what those issues are by Hamonic and his agent and therefore Chiarelli and other GM's aren't going to be left in the dark over what those issues are and what their affects on Hamonic could be going forward.

He's had 2 concussions plus a suspected third concussion plus a major knee injury.

so you are happy with the roster that has us in 30th
You don't trade those players for a player that wants out and who knows what the issues are. Hamonic is getting overrated on this board. As I mentioned a few posts above, he's had 2 concussions with a suspected third concussion with a major knee injury. To me it seems he's injury-prone.

Wow the anti-Edmonton is real. Unless we do something amazing we get buried.

Draisaitl has been the best player in the league for over a week and they're too busy adjusting jock straps from teams from the east.

Utter garbage. ****ing pathetic.

Oh well. Arizona can relate, im sure.
