Friedman’s allusions sound more like there will be massive changes if they miss the playoffs, when he’s mentioned this on the 32 thoughts he also said he felt that the window for McDrai could be longer (referenced the Caps)

That said, if they miss the playoffs and no changes happen, I could see them asking to be traded
So here's my 2c for what it's worth.

1. Holland talks about making a program and making Edmonton a strong franchise long term.

2. He talks about keeping futures and building and that he's not taking short term fixes.

3. Friedman talks about the window being larger.

My guess, Holland and the organization has had this discussion with Connor and Leon and they've expressed interest in staying long term and winning in this city. That information has been leaked to at least Friedman and other media.

This Is a terrible bet by Holland because the 2 of them can ask out at any time.

I agree. If that wasn't the case, we'd be seeing Holland scrambling making terrible trades etc right now. At least that gives me some comfort

Here's how I see it. Players (and others) can say or insinuate all they want to the media. And what is truth today may not be reality 3 years from now. How many times have we seen a GM pumping up his coach and then firing him shortly thereafter? Just because McDrai are giving indications right now that they want to win here and will stick around as long as that takes, doesn't necessarily mean that will be the way they feel in a few years from now.

Lmao, who do we have to trade for him? picks prospects and cap dumps? for a rental? lol
Entering retirement age and looking for retirement contract - Check
Fills the only position we have strength in (top 6 c) - Check
8M + caphit - Check

Fills all Hollands boxes.

This might be the most trustworthy tweet this account has ever made.

Sorry to be so blunt, but that can apply to pretty much anything. If the team continues to underperform for the next few years, of course they could change their minds.

That's exactly what my point is. And it's why I'm not putting a lot of stock into Friedman info/comments.

Okay, but what’s the point about worrying if they change their mind in a few years. If Friedman is to be believed, it sounds like they understand that this season could end up being a write off.

I think it’s very obvious that they (among other players) will want out if the team wanders in the desert for the next few years, no?

Spector is a blowhard who blocks people on Twitter who call out his stupidity.

Lots of media people wonder why the rest of world thinks they're jokes because lots of them want to be the story instead of covering the story.
I was mentioned in a tweet directed at him and got blocked lol

Even Katz is going to be angry. No playoffs in a year where you have gate revenue back? Ken Holland probably has to resign as GM at least. They'll let him stay as POHO but it'll be basically a glorified advisor role.

Interesting comments by Dreger. He pretty much flat out said when other teams were asked, they said the Oilers were too easy to play against.

He said if Tippett is not willing to demand that and enforce that then it’s up to management to find someone who will.

I think this is what will happen as well. People can say what they want about Katz not caring since he’ll make money either way, but there’s no guarantee that fans will flock to the stands even with McDavid if the team continues to flounder post-Covid.

Less fans in the stands, no playoffs means a lot less money coming in in a gate-driven league. If McDavid goes, it would be even worse, not to mention a massive dip in team valuation

Before McDavid's ever getting traded he'd become the GM for atleast a season.

Effectively, yes, lol.

This is basically what is going to happen. They will trade a bunch of picks and prospects to win now and make Connor and Leon happy.

At this point, I'd rather have Evander Kane coach us

It is easy to play against a team when they give you 3-4 goals every night.

Find me a "hard to play against team" with shit goaltending.

All you have to do is wait for Connor/Leon to get off the ice and then wait to cash in. In some cases the goalie will just give you the puck and let you score, lol.

Dave made his bed a long time ago. He decided to be "friends" with the players for popularity sake rather than be the adult in the room. He doesn't know how to coach this team 5 on 5, hasn't for 3 years.

Makes me think of this

“Easy to play against” combined with the losing streak is usually a kiss of death for a coach. But with Holland, it’ll be business as usual

I will never cheer for a Katz-owned Oilers team and if they trade away McDavid. That level of incompetence? Never supporting that ever again, will buy a jersey of his new team and proudly wear it all around town, like a lot of other people.

Will you be posting on the new teams board ? If so it's a win win .
