Brought to you by Staufer Stuffing.

This Stony guy made a legitimate call at the beginning of December about the team's issues, and King Fart Sniffer blew him off then too.

At the end of the day If you can trust in your management to stand up to the players and tell them this is your damn job . Sadly we have a Gm that is well past the expiry date and is living on his coattails of the past. I personally think there is more to what meets the eye and no matter how upset the fans are going to be, were stuck with this team till next year and with any luck, we can offload some dead weight with a gm that knows what he is doing. I was never a Sather fan but the one thing you knew was ,it was his team and the players wanted to play for him

Holding people accountable sometimes means being the "bad guy". The coaches here are more interested in being buddies with the players or not being to hard on them because they played them 29 minutes the previous game.

The coaching here is bull shit and it's soft and you get exactly the kind of team from that ... soft ass team in games. It's not a coincidence or unrelated.

Frankly the army doesn't mean shit for pro sports. Ask any athlete who has played for a long time, they've all had coaches they've hated at times who they will admit also got more out of them.

What are all the terms that pro athletes use when they talk about their games.... battling, getting in the trenches, going to war.

Pro sports teams come to army units for team building exercises so they can share in hardship. It's almost like what we do is a little more difficult than playing a game for a living. It's almost like we train our entire careers to learn how to lead people in life and death situations. I can't talk about a lot of things when it comes to pro sports, but I can guarantee I've forgotten more about leadership than most pro athletes will ever learn.

Seriously, all you do here is regurgitate whatever is said on the radio and then say it again and again and again and again like you're the smartest guy in the room.

Why is Woodcroft such a good coach it's he gained a lot of experience watching Tmac make bad decisions Brunette in Florida is another example Most of the top teams are being coached by either former assistants or a long track record of coaching in minor leagues . The Old school coaches are spinning their wheels for the most part in the league

The one thing Oiler fans care about more then anything is work ethic. It’s why the fans stuck by the Oilers of the 90’s and early 2000’s. They might not have been the best teams but they worked their asses off and never made the game easy for the opposition. The team lost that identity and work ethic from 2007 to today as we’ve just been collecting high picks and high skilled players that think talent alone can make you win games.

The team Chia built in 2016-17 was the first time we had a good mix of skill/size/toughness and work ethic but since then the GM’s have abandoned the size/toughness/work ethic and are trying to shift to speed/skill which doesn’t work if that’s all your lineup is.

Holland made a few smart moves to address that by adding Hyman and Foegele but then he went full simple jack on the defence and created a group that can’t defend but can all move the puck. I won’t even get into how bad the goaltending is but if this team actually worked hard and defended better then our goaltending wouldn’t look as bad either.
If you are gonna lose, lose cause you were out skilled, not because the other teAm outworked you.

Play till the end no matter the score

That's on coaching. Tippett is clearly a carrot and stick coach who only uses the stick on bottom 6 forwards. Draisaitl's back hand passes that turn into turnovers don't lead to his diminished ice time. McDavid going full controller disconnect in the D zone doesn't mean he rides pine for a single shift. A guy like Perlini (who I don't think is particularly good) scores a goal and then barely sees the ice again.

Tippett is clearly out of ideas, but doesn't want to give up those sweet, sweet Katz dollars.

At the end of the day, they sucked last year with Koskinen and Skinner in net, and they suck again this year with Koskinen and Skinner in net (you can throw injured shitty Smith into that pile too).

It's not exactly mind blowing. You can blame it on the D or the goaltending or "bad luck" or whatever, but 3.1 or 3.2 GA per game for two years in a row with no top end Smith in net means you are shit any time he's not in net in peak form.

They were not a playoff a team last year with Koskinen in net, and they don't look like it after an inflated PP start this year either. This is just things leveling out and normalizing.
At no point have I suggested that Mikko Koskinen, Stuart Skinner or Mike Smith are the preferred solution. You're trying to convince people that fixing the goalie will set this team on a different path. That isn't a certainty with the quality of team they possess.

I'm telling you that trading anything for an 'upgrade' on Koskinen will not mask the deficiencies of the current roster.

Seriously, how many games is he willing to sit and watch this mess?
I mean I know his feelings, I've been there. You get stubborn on a issue, then when things start to prove you wrong, you double down and hunker down even more on your position because you want to see the reaction when you get proven right. The more you get proven wrong, the more you hunker down. It's a predictable flaw in a lot of people, including myself.

The difference is I'm just some random dude on a hockey board, not a GM of a pro sports team getting paid 5M dollars a year to be better than that.

Never a popular comment.. but what is the Captain doing to fix this mess?? Time to step up the leadership. He was completely invisible the other day. Unacceptable.

There is no fixing this without a goalie. Oiler fans need to simply understand, no goalie = no playoffs.

Simple as that. There's no leadership that's changing that.

I don't have to convince anyone. Without a top end starter they are not a playoff team.

They were not last year, their metrics with Koskinen in net were terrible last year.

They are shit again this year with Koskinen-Skinner forced to be the starter.

And they'll miss the playoffs for many more years until they get a top flight starter. There is no middle path here.

They don't want to spend on this position, fine, just don't come crying in 1-2 years because the relationship with McDavid and Draisiatl is ruined beyond repair.

They're the same team as last year, the only thing that's changed is instead of getting 2.31 goals against per game in games Smith played, they're now getting the standard 3.2 goals against per game that Koskinen-Skinner-broken ass Smith allow.

The gap between 2.31 GAA is the gap between Carolina (no.1 defense in the NHL) and a 3.23 GAA bottom 7 lottery team's GAA.

That's all. What's happening now with their record cratering is predictable and should quite frankly have been expected.

Don't blame the "leadership" ... Keith has more leadership than most anyone in the league ... it just doesn't mean jack shit when you are allowing 3+ goals against per game because your goaltending sucks. And that isn't just something exclusive to this year, last year Koskinen-Skinner also allowed 3+ goals against per game. It's basically the same thing.

I guess I just want to see the captain of this team step up when they needed him this last game… and make players around him better. Aside from Drai, he is not good at that.
