Well, if Gaborik were available I would take it seriously, but it would be a very hard trade to make both asset and cap wise for the Kings.

The Rangers will want a premium price, a like package to what they paid for Rick Nash, and that would not really be in the Kings' best interest right now.

We'd also have to get rid of salary to keep him. Williams would likely have to go. I would never trade Brown in such a deal.

I always liked Gaborik, and felt it was a mistake that Lombardi didn't match the Rangers or offer him a multi-year deal off the bat. I can't really see a way a trade could be made, as the assets we would want to deal wouldn't be assets the Rangers need, but it would be nice to have another goal scorer of that caliber on the team.

I disagree with you a little on the price i dont see it as a premium package like nash The want him out for the cap space i think williams king would be enuff and we could get a pick as well coming back. Ranger fans want money to get perry getlaf or iggy in the offseason Dont forget hes got a ntc that will limit who he will goto. I figure we would be on the list that he would goto seeing as we were rumoured to be in the running for him when he was a free agent.

I think Gaborik would mess with the way our team works as he does not relentlessly chase pucks like the rest of these guys. No from me.

Agreed. Back when the Kings were pursuing Gaborik as a UFA we still under Murray's defensive system which Gaborik could adapt to consider his time under Lemaire, but now I don't think Gaborik would be completely the right fit for the Kings. Williams puck possession of passing is a better fit, even if he is much less talented.

And I say this as a huge Gaborik fan.

That being said, if the Kings could get him as a UFA after 13-14 as a UFA, I certainly would not be opposed to taking another run at him. Brown - Kopitar - Gaborik could be hugely deadly with that speed.

Looks like perry will be the odd man out unless Anaheim is willing to spend 18/20 mill for 2 players. Get on the phone dean

Like we can afford another high dollar contract. The Ducks are in a much better position to sign Perry at the same they signed Getzlaf than we are. And I don't see us making Perry our highest paid player. That would just go against almost everything DL is about. He's not a center, D, or goalie. And that is where DL puts the bigger money.

The Ducks have over $19M in cap space that will be available this summer, and that is with 15 signed players. Their top UFA forwards are Perry, Selanne and Koivu. On defense their UFAs will be Lydman and Lovejoy and their RFAs are Palmieri, Beleskey, and McMillan.

To suggest that the Ducks will struggle to re-sign Perry as a result of locking Getzlaf up is simply an uninformed opinion. They have plenty of room to give Perry a raise of $3M from his current salary.

Not saying they can't sign him, just saying they haven't signed him yet and I don't think he'd wanna stay in Anaheim.

That's a big assumption about him not wanting to stay.
I have seen plenty of rumors he wants to test the market. But testing the market and not wanting to stay are very different things. I'm sure the Ducks have made an offer to him and it might not be as much as what they paid Getzlaf. Or maybe they have made the same offer and he wants to see if there is any more money out there. What I would think is they made an offer and it's not as much as Getzlaf and now that it is signed he will see what other teams offer. And then try to get the same deal Getzlaf got and stay a Duck. Or he'll go back and say I want the same deal are you willing to do it. And if so he remains a Duck.

7 players for 15 million? They can resign him if they are a cap team, which they haven't been. Too say there is PLENTY of room is a real reach.

My opinion is Perry's days as a Duck are numbered.

And that looks much better than what we have. 15M with only 12 signed. And they only have to have 20 players on the roster. And it is safe to assume Selanne is going to go after this year. He's a freak of nature but playing at 43 might even be too much for him.

I don't think he'd stay with the Ducks their Window is gone, their team has retiring players, they will be dropping soon, so I think he'd bail as soon as he can, the only way getzlaf stayed cause they offered a career high so that's family solidarity. Idk if perry will get the same, if he doesn't he'd leave ASAP before the Ducks collapse.

They don't look like a team on the verge of collapse

Perry on Kopitar's wing...

The Ducks aren't the Flames. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

Teemu will be gone soon, and Saku is 38, their very good forwards are getting old, Ryan most likely is gonna leave also. They wont have the same roster soon, unless Perry takes like a 2 year contract which I think he wont.

No cap room.

We'd have to get rid of about 10m in cap hits to be able to sign the guy. He's the best free agent to hit the market in a while and he has no injury concerns or questionmarks at all. Perry is going to get PAID. The Habs have so much cap room available this summer, a 9 million deal from them would not surprise me at all. Also his favorite team growing up.

This team has no room to be improved over the next few years unless the cap goes way up. Once Brown and Voynov are committed to (and then the question becomes what to do with Greene), the only way the team can is via the draft or by trading high salaried players. We wanted the core locked up and that's what we're gonna get. Taking a guess here on some of your ages (I know you're older Ron ;)), but in all likelihood and to put it in perspective, you guys will be 30-35 before this team has cap flexibility again.

Some of their vets are aging, but one of them is benjamin button. Plus, they have a deeeeep prospect pool that HF will never give them credit for because lol west coast.

I think this year is their best shot at a cup for a while, but ANA will definitely be a thorn in our side for a long time.

Very deep. Very very deep.

Gibson looks like he might be a solid NHL tender. Rakell, Etem, Palmieri, are going to be legit NHL wingers, and guys like Friberg, Kerdiles, Karlsson and Roy could be good depth players. Don't even get me started on their defensive prospects...Lindholm is going to be a stud, and Vatanen is shaping up into a solid top-4.

If they don't win it this year they have a lot of talent to reload on in the coming years.

2 forwards retiring means open space for players such as Rakell and Etem, who have very good potential. They are not going to collapse.

If the Kings wanted to deal Stoll they would not have dealt Loktionov because he would have fit in perfect on the 3rd line center.

Or they move Carter back to center, slide Richards down to the 3rd line center and promote a winger from Manch or add one in the return deal.
