So with Hamrlik are they done on D as long as Staal is ok eventually?

Did they have to make a roster move to fit him in? off the top of my head Asham , Richards and Gilroy say so they need to remove someone from the active roster.......If Asham is not ready it may be him on the IR?

If we could get Gabby to sign on at 6, Henrik at 5.5 on a long term contract, Girardi for 4.5, we could feasibly pull it off. Dunno if Sather would risk it though, and DZ would be a casualty. Callahan will need to stay at around 4, and not go Drury on us somewhere else.

Gabby to sign on at 6,
OK

Henrik at 5.5 on a long term contract,
WITH YOU THERE

Girardi for 4.5, we could feasibly pull it off. ... and DZ would be a casualty.
GIRARDI ODD MAN OUT W/ MDZ RETAINED FOR LESS

Callahan will need to stay at around 4,
CALLY DESERVES WILL GET AN INCREASE.
He might do us a solid and make it more bonus laden (instead of 4/4+, maybe base of 3, 3.5 and incentives that approach 4, but have upside to 5,5+

And this is before we start to consider Stepan, McD, and Hagelin contracts.

The more I look at it, the more inevitable it seems.

I don't want assets. I want cup!

Best chance to win multiple cups is be strong every year, try to get even stronger, not go off one one [or 2] and done binge.

Take 2 steps backward if you get 5 steps forwards within the year.
We are really obliged to make those sorts of deals, at least until the guys on our farm develop.

How is Rangers cap situation?

If Staal is out for rest of year (I hope that isn't case) the Blackhawks could be a team with a vet dman to move in coming weeks

Steve Montador is skating with team and is expected to be cleared to return in coming weeks which would leave Hawks with 8 NHL dmen

Monty or Brookbank could be trade bait

What's the cost?

well I would think at 3.5 milliion, Hamrlik is the vet Dman they will use. Assuming Staal is healthy or when he is healthy

McDonaugh, Girardi
Staal, Del Zotto
Hamrlik, Stralman

then its a toss up for the spares
Bickel is a bum but plays some F too
Eminger is a UFA, has done well lately
Gilroy is a UFA and did ok in his time

I was thinking it may be time to move Boyle and one of Eminger/Gilroy to a team for another 3rd line C

I think they are at 50 contracts now? or does that Nicholls kid not count since he is in the minors? if they are still at 49 or even 50 a 2 for 1 deal makes sense..........they could sign Zuccarello soon too

CAP WISE- they still have plenty of room at the deadline.

Wouldn't mind replacing them with Brookbank.

Sharks Fan here. What would it take for you to consider trading Hagelin or Stepan? Absolutely covet these two young players of yours.

If your still looking for a youngish RH PMD, I would offer up Braun + Clowe + 2nd as a starting point for discussions for either. (New poster here, if this is laughable please be kind. Not trying to offend. Let me know what would be more tolerable....)

Those guys are immeasurably valuable to us. Wouldn't be the kind of value that a guy like Pavelski or Couture would garner, but it wouldn't be far off. The package you listed would be a nice assortment of players to nab, but not enough for either of the guys you want. :)

They are untouchable, but if you must know the value they hold for us, it would cost you Couture.

Take the amount you covet them, and then times that by 10.

It's an unrealistic value from our side, especially as fans, but the asking price is something the Sharks wouldn't pay. :D

Btw, welcome to HF. Where reality is fantasy and fantasy is reality :D

Rangers and Sharks just don't match up well.. Hagelin and Stepan are way too important to our team this year and moreso the future. They don't have Pavelski/Couture value, but thats about how important they are to us as those guys to the Sharks, and both teams are looking for forward help.

Off topic, but just had to say Ailurophile, you've outdone yourself with that .gif in your signature. That is so the Rangers PP in a nut shell.

On the subject of the sharks, I wonder how all those Scott Gomez for 3rd line center advocates are feeling right about now. Not only does he have 1 goal/3 points in 15 games, but San Jose's team performance has tanked since just about the moment they acquired him. The man is a stick of dynamite, and not in a good way.

.....meanwhile in Montreal.

A-ha! You've cracked the code. The team that gets rid of Scott Gomez is met with immediate success. Gomez's trade value must be sky high — struggling teams would be lining up to get him just so they can waive him!

Hagelin is explosive and basically the only player who can make something out of nothing with his speed.

Stepan might not have his best season so far, but he's our no. 2 center so for him to be traded, we at least need a center who can fill in for him.
