I dont understand why people think Gaborik is going to get traded at this deadline. Damn near impossible.

The offseason and the following trade deadline is where some interesting stuff will happen. I think its pretty clear that the team will give the top end offensive players of Nash, Richards, and Gaborik at least a shortened season together before its blown up.

You don't let him go for nothing, you sign him to a contract extension.

This.. I actually think he would accept less money to remain here for a chance at a cup. Then again, if he reads these boards and sees fans don't appreciate 40 goals a year, maybe not..

I agree, we have to give them AT LEAST half a season for God sakes to see if they can win a cup.

If we could get Gabby to sign on at 6, Henrik at 5.5 on a long term contract, Girardi for 4.5, we could feasibly pull it off. Dunno if Sather would risk it though, and DZ would be a casualty. Callahan will need to stay at around 4, and not go Drury on us somewhere else.

I'd guess all those numbers will prove to be low, especially Lundqvist.

We made Henrik the highest paid goaltender in the league for five years... I think 5.5 is reasonable for a 33 year old goaltender for the next five. Would be the better part of 75 million we'dve paid him. He'll understand that he wants to win a cup here.

The Hawks roster doesn't really have any gaping holes. But Bowman has a type of player in mind he’s inquiring about.

"I’m probably more looking up front, depth maybe at center," said Bowman. "Not high-end but more a role-playing type center."

Bowman likes his forward depth in the minors, pointing to the likes of Brandon Pirri, Jimmy Hayes and Jeremy Morin.

"We’ve got young guys knocking at the door," he said. "But I guess most of our depth is young guys, so if we add a forward, it’ll be a more experienced guy."

This post depressed the hell out of me... makes me really wish Howson dealt Nash to us at the deadline last yr instead of the off season.

Our window is closing before it even opens.

He's been the best goalie over those 5 years, though, so it seems fair to me.

He said not high-end, though.

And what is your plan? Keep him until he walks for nothing?

Its definitely doesn't include a player who lost well over a season with a recent concussion!

If im moving a 40g scorer I want a serious player or 2 coming back.

How about we keep Gaborik and try to resign to a cheaper deal with less yrs on 2014.

Yes, I would take my chances and keep Gaborik for 2 seasons. I don't really care if he'll walk, he gives us the best chance to win in those two seasons. He's been loyal, changed his playing style, put up great production on subpar offensive teams and played with torn labrum in the playoffs. He is a ****ing warrior out there and very under-appreciated out there IMO. I don't want to see Gabby traded at all. This is where you trust the player like you have before to break out of his slump and there is no doubt that he'll do it in my mind.

i'm a big Gaborik fan, but when he's not scoring, he does little to help this team win games. I'm hoping he can turn it on during the second half into the playoffs, if not you definitely have to try to move him if the right deal comes along.

You can't have a 7m dollar player not scoring in over a month. It seems like he isn't engaged anymore. He just seems disinterested.

Bryan Little > Gaborik.
Chris Stewart > Staal.

Gotta love people on the trade boards.

Maybe looking at Justin Williams? Skilled forward. Another RWer, though.

The package of: future #1-#2 center, offensive defenseman, 1st round pick.

Tyler Toffoli
Vyacheslav Voynov
1st 2014 (they lost their 2013 pick on condition in the Carter trade with Columbus)

Caps placed Green on IR with a groin injury.. hmmm.. I could have sworn people on the main board we're saying he's more reliable than Staal and that would be a "good, fair deal"

The Kings wouldn't do that. Voynov is a stud.
