This excuse again? Just my views, but for a dominant hockey talent with supposedly high-end scoring tools, I'd expect him to damn well put points in any role he's in. What type of role was he playing in? Defense? It sure hasn't helped him in the pro game thus far, he is awful out there. He isn't a complete player and he isn't a scoring player, what exactly is Kreider? A faster, less physical, softer Pyatt?

Three years ago I said that he would start of as a Fredrik Sjöström but that he hopefully could find a niche offensively that would fit him.

So far he has screamed Sjöström II for the last three years. But he is still undeveloped and hopefully he can put it together.

a few names on D we are already mentioning. snyrangerblog

I agree with Hainsey and Murray as options............If the Rangers could get Whitney and say Belanger from Edmonton for Boyle I would consider that too

At Newsday, Steve Zipay lists San Jose defenseman Douglas Murray and Winnipeg defenseman Ron Hainsey as two players the Rangers could potentially look at adding to add more depth on defense.

Murray, 32, is a UFA at the end of this season and has a cap hit of $2.5 million.

He is averaging 16:40 per game, 2:51 on the PK, and has 37 hits and 34 blocked shots. He has one fighting major and two assists.

Murray is 6-3, 245. He ranks sixth on the Sharks in ice time per game for defensemen, but leads in hits and is third in blocked shots. Murray is a left handed shot.

The Rangers have been scouting the Sharks recently and earlier in the season the Sharks had scouts watching the Rangers.

Hainsey has 58 blocked shots and averaging close to 24 minutes a game.

He has a cap hit of $4.5 million and a consistent part of the Jets top four.

I jiust hope we are not scouting Boyle....Murray and Clowe for Boyle, Bourque, Segal and a 3rd.

If the Rangers can land Clowe and Murray for Boyle, 3rd and prospects it would be fantastic.............. Clowe does not have much value right now and is a UFA........no goals tons of PIM:laugh: ........ not like Boyle is much better and Rangers would need a C back unless Miller slides in there which is a risk

In order to play in college your defensive play needs to be good. It took Kreider a couple,of years to improve his. There were older players ahead of him n the depth chart.

Bugs tad and Zucker did not play at BC.

This doesn't explain the college players for BC Whitney, Gadreau, Atkinson and even d-man Doumoulin having better PPGs than Kreider at the same sophomore/rookie age.

That's a good thing for a young players, development you know.

Moving Miller+Kreider+high pick is ridiculous in Rangers situation especially if it's for a defender. Miller and Kreider is impotent pieces of the future here, like it or not.

That of course depends on who we could get.

We -- really -- need a right handed PPQB. Slats could have had Zidlicky really cheap at deadline last season, and a few of us really called for him, but Slats made tremendous blunder and now there aren't all that many PPQB's out there.

Its about time we take care of that hole...

Didn't realize Clowe has 0 goals, I'd still love to get Clowe and Murray. They're both slower skaters but they add size and much needed toughness.

People are still salivating over Ryan Clowe. Unbelievable, only on HF. We had people proposing to trade Dubinsky for Clowe last year. We had it happen again this year with the idiotic proposals.

Can we stop trying to acquire every single name rumored?

There's this white room with four walls. All of the HF nyr board members are standing in the middle. And every 5 seconds a name appears on a wall in bright lights with a fathead below it. Instantly the group sprints to that wall with their faces in awe until the next name springs up.

Stand pat until the deadline. Keep the team as is unless you have a steal of a deal, but you're not gona see that happen until the deadline. Pick up a couple of veterans, make a playoff run.

Deadline deals for a vet or two would do well for us as long as we don't pick up a vet goon. This year's deadline seems like a seller's market to me.

Agreed. There are a lot of UFA's at the end of the year. Even playoff bound teams might be selling off some players to get a return on them. I'm not advocating a trade with anaheim, but they've been heavily discussed on the big hockey networks in regards to the situation with Perry and Getzlaf. Sometimes the simple moves are the ones that benefit a team the most. Especially this team that is still developing chemistry.

So was on main board and sens fan offered Zibanjehd, bishop, top d prospect and 1st for Gaborik

I don't see the Rangers having much use for Bishop, but I would love Zibanejad. Another winger coming back would be ideal, and Michalek would be a good replacement for Gaborik. Any deadline move for Gaborik needs to bring back a cheaper second line forward, and preferably a LW. Michalek would fit that bill.

Michalek is under contract until next summer with a cap hit of $4,333,333, but he is actually owed $6m in salary next year, so may be more enticing of a move for Ottawa.

Zibanejad + Michaelk + prospect/pick would be a very enticing haul for Gaborik. Would leave us with:

Hagelin - Richards - Nash
Michalek - Stepan - Callahan
Miller/Kreider - Zibanejad - Pyatt
Powe - Boyle/Halpern - Asham

Not too shabby.

The Sens trade seems okay in the long run. I'd have to think long about Bishop if that ever happened. How long is Biron still around etc... does one of Talbot or Stajcer come up...blah blah.

I'd do it. Zibanejad is has a lot of potential. I guess Bishop isn't really young enough to be a guy that we can mold into Hank's backup, so that part isn't important. If the top D prospect is a PMD that would be great. Also, I really think that the 1st will be a mid 1st at worst. IMO, there's no way the Sens keep it up with all the injuries. We have no 1st. I'm tired of Gaborik going from dominant sniper to scrub every other year. This year, he's practically a scrub.

Looking at it again, I agree with you. I'd do it, getting a 1st would help, a "top" D prospect as well. I like Gabby and all but he is inconsistent and I don't like how he goes "invisible" sometimes

If zib is the only sure thing coming back that's a bad idea for 40 goals. Unless you plan to use that mon. On perry or something
