Rumor: Trade Rumor Thread Part VI: Gaborik for Peanuts

So, that package for Gaby to trade him to Ottawa was suggested by the fanbase, but has there be any rumors of this package? Or just fan trade ideas?

And Mika Z plays RW and C? Since we have a logjam at RW, he'd have to play C, no?

What about Greening? A 3C?

Just trying to get a feel for this package that was proposed.

Zib can be the teams 3c for a couple of years. After that, let it roll.

Greening is a LW.

Ah, so the LW need is addressed.

So, if we buyout Richards, we'd have Stepan and Mika Z as 1C and 2C, respectively.

And Boyle is still our 3C? Or he's going too?

Yeah, it was proposed by a Sens fan, but I don't think the majority of their fans are on board with it.

Zibanejad is certainly good enough to be a center in the NHL. He has all of the tools to be effective there. It's just a matter of whether or not he can develop his offense while not taking away from the rest of his game. I think 50-55 points is a pretty safe projection for him, with the potential for more if all the stars align.

Greening can play wing or center, but I think he's a natural LW. Good energy and speed, and solid defensively. Would make a very nice third liner, but is versatile enough to play on a scoring line in a pinch. Think Dubinsky without a nasty streak.

I'd guess we'd make JT our 3rd line center.

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Mika-Callahan
Greening-Miller-Thomas?
Pyatt-Boyle-Powe

Trading Gabby+Richie (essentially) for Greening and Mika and a pick may help in the long run, but will certainly hurt next year.

Of course. How could I forget.

Is Jay Bo on the market ? He never out up the numbers projected but the guy can lug the puck and minutes

Lindberg is an option as well. Same with Nieves in the future. Or a UFA.

Both Zib and Greening would fit the way this team wants to play. Zib has good size and speed and has a high skill-set and a bit of a mean-streak. He is a poor mans Landeskog.

Greening is a prototypical, good skating, big, complimentary top-9 forward with decent hands. He would fit in well in NY.

I don't think it'll ever end with Sather at the helm.

Why would the Rangers want to invest another 6.68M in another defenseman?

Maybe Calgary eats some salary?

I thought this thread was supposed to be about actual "trade rumors" proposed in the actual NHL, not fantasies, conjured up by the fanbase.... whatever...

Why would i want to trade my struggling star scorer to another team that i'm competing against, when he would fit in better with their system? And in return i get their top prospects when we are closer to contending then they are?

If Gaborik goes, he goes out west, to a team like SJ, L.A. or Detroit, for players like Pavelski or Brown/Richards. Players that fit our system...

i want Pavs bad, think he could and would work out well here..

Gabs, (Jean/St Croix)Prospect/pyatt and 3rd for Pavs and Clowe and a high round pick

Hags-richards-Nash
Kreider-Step-Pavs
Clowe-Miller-Callahan
Powe-Boyle-Haley

Pyatt,Halps

But is that a need? A glaring need? Worth investing 6.68M in capsapce?

It just seems that some of these proposals are just moves for moves sake.

It's not a move for a moves sake. He would add a lot to this team.

Except for the offensive zone and the PP, which is were we need a D most.

He is a pretty good offensive defenseman. Not earth-shattering but he has a good shot and moves well.

I try to avoid this thread for that very reason.

"You think Boston would be willing to part with Lucic?" - No
"You think the Rangers would be interested in Bouwmeester?" - No
"You think Ottawa would trade some of their best young players for Gaborik?" - No

I mean, everyone obviously has a right to discuss trade proposals, but most of them here are either not feasible or, more importantly, ignore addressing needs and just insert players that they like. Jay Bowmeester? Why? We have a better and cheaper version in Staal.

I know its not glamorous to talk about, but I'd much rather explore options that bring in a 3C or tweener LW into the fold on the cheap - someone with little or no commitment beyond this season. Why? Because thats whats actually likely to happen.

Jaybo is cursed. Guy is never going to play a playoff game in the NHL.

If he was a righty and cheaper, I might be interested. Would be nice to have his shot on the PP though.

very true i know i've stated going after jaybo in similar manor but i though jaybo play rd, my mistake.. but its true its a parallel move, you make trades to improve your team.. like on here theres a glencross and tanguay for gabs..why the hell would we do something like that? i see 3c as a need but i think we need toughness and a dubi type player back.. im going to say it again we got to call sj and try gabs for pavs and clowe.. it addresses all our needs..

Some of you guys want to ship out Gaborik for cap purposes and want to add Bouwmeester? Come on guys, our blueline is not the issue here.

We're 22nd in the league in goals per game, we're #6 in goals against. Jbo wouldn't add more to this team offensively than Gaborik. He hasn't hit 30 points in 4 years. Girardi and McDonagh have..

Darren Dreger was on NHL Live yesterday. He believes the Wings are interested in Bouwmeester. Filppula and Tatar are two players from a group available according to Dreger. Filppula will be a group III this summer. He returned from injury last night against the Flames. Scored a goal too.
