Rumor: Trade Rumor Thread IV - "What's all the roar over RoR?"

No one really liked Mitchell when he was here, he was last years Boyle. And he hadn't had six goals here anyway, playing on the 4th line, so crying over him walking is just meaningless. Now, trade me Murray and get Nash ****ing goin so we can begin the climbing in the standing!!! LGR!!!

Miller on the 4th line?

You have 9 Dmen
Girardi, McD, Staal, Regehr, Ellis, Streit, McI, Barrie, Bickel.

What happened to Barrie in your line up, in the AHL?
Streit and Ellis are a little redundant.

And "the nine" doesn't include Stralman, who vanished completely. Maybe he's the new PP coach? ;)

He was one of our best possession players and they toss him like he was a piece of raw meat. What a joke.

Yeah, I don't understand the Mitchell talk. This team misses Dubi, Prust and Artie way more than it will ever miss Mitchell's 16 point season.

Halpern has been good. I know he doesn't provide a ton of offense but he isn't a black hole either. If the Rangers are relying on him for offense it means 9 other players are severely slacking in that department.

Halpern has been very good.

Besides him, we took on Asham, Powe, Pyatt, Nash, JT Miller and Chris Kreider. Seven players. What, five-six new forwards on the roster on avg? That's about 3 too many...

Richards has been here a year. Hagelin has been here less than a year. Stepan is still what barely 23. 2/3 of the lineup hasnt been here for two season.

Slats just screwed up tremendously. It's really armature hour on a regular basis with him behind the wheel.

I saw HFD play the other night. Not much hockey being played down there. Two guys on the top line who fall short of Aaron Voros in terms of hockey sense, in Mashinter and Palmieri. Jean who got some raw ability but just is miles behind in terms of playing with a purpose. An avg prospect in Yogan. One good line (Haley-Tessier-Thomas).

Then I saw PHX-EDM. PHX is such a well built team. The core is built of prudently picked players nobody else really wanted. Picked for certain roles in their game plan.

Who is picking players for us? Torts? Obviously not? Slats? God help us. The lawyers? (gretzkys agent or the NBA cap guy? Probably. The armature guy? Yeah he only got a few thousand players to watch per year...

The Rangers last year looked really bad before Mitchell and Hags were put together in lineup.

The previous 2 games they lost to Habs and Panthers. The shots were as followed:

Panthers - 38
Rangers - 20

Canadiens - 31
Rangers - 17

Mitchell and Hags inserted into lineup and outshoot WSH 32-21 and win game 6-3, start of 5 game win streak and November that turned around the season.

Mitchell was a special player along with how Hags in which they helped the Rangers move away from extensive shot blocking and starting to resemble some sort of puck carrying/distribution. The Rangers simply had more puck on stick with those two on the ice and their record showed that. Mitchell highest RelCorsi on Rangers last year, Hags 2nd, Dubi 3rd. Now with 2/3rds of best puck possessing players gone, team is mediocre.

this is just a theory.. does anyone think that Kreider is trade bait with the way they are pulling him in and out of the lineup??? unless maybe his leg/ankle is worse than it has been reported... i know its a likely no answer but just a thought.

I don't think we miss Mitchell in particular, but we miss having players like him in the bottom-six. He over-handled the puck, but at least he could handle it, unlike several of the guys we have in there now.

I think our 4th line is one of the worst in the league. They seem like 4 guys thrown in a hat, without any purpose on it (as a line).

How about Steve Downie as a sparkplug type guy? Say the Rangers do indeed trade for ROR.

ROR and Downie for Boyle, Del Zotto, 3rd

and then send a pick to Ottawa for Gonchar

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Downie-Richards-Gaborik
Kreider-O'Reilly-Callahan
Asham-Halpern-Powe

send Miller down to AHL where he belongs, along with Mashinter and Thomas

ROR and Downie for Boyle, Del Zotto, 3rd
Don't want at that price, and ROR can screw us with contract demands if that isn't worked out first.

and then send a pick to Ottawa for Gonchar
Do NOT want.
At ANY price.

send Miller down to AHL where he belongs,
:help:

He's being treated the same way he's been playing; poorly. But I would be really really surprised if we traded him. He needs time to adjust anthe only way he's traded os if we're offered an overpayment.

No way to the bolded. Not a chance. A second round pick has a 20% chance of even making the NHL and Yogan and St. Croix likely have a lower chance than that. A major part of a top pairing defender?
This is why, with an open mind, I said it would depend upon the +, which I gather you unintentionally overlooked. Never said I'd move MS strictly for those components alone.

You keep talking about unleashing the Kreider as if he was some dragon. He was unleashed in the playoffs with no responsibility and rode 5 goals in 18 games. He's not the next Keon. Right now, it looks like we might get a Stalberg. Which, while valuable, isn't exactly that great a player. He's been given plenty of opportunities to succeed and I know he'll get better as he's still adjusting. But Tortorella is teaching him to be a two-way player, which even if it decreases his point totals, makes him more valuable as a player.

He will be more Keon than Stalberg IF he does not get injured and is not handcuffed, which is what's happening now. As I have said, we need to be open minded about going 2 steps back to get 5 ahead. CK's tutelage at this age, given his experience emphasizing college and a minimum of pro hockey, is acceptable. He's learning on the job.

However, this entire system smothers creativity. Not just Kreider. I stand by my comments, but they are made with expectation at some point the Torts EPIC FAIL is discontinued, and we get a real balanced system that presses the offense, acknowledges and submits to the dirty work of D, including shot blocking WHEN NECESSARY. No more 6 G on ice, etc.

....

Rangers need an emotional player...

Raffi Torres and Phil Lane to NYR
rights to Zuccarello, 3rd (FLA) and Ryan Bourque

This^, except not that poorly in the totality of the circumstances, and not just for overpayment. requires massive overpayment. He is a complete package of good size, decent strength that looks above normal and clearly superior speed.

and i hope you dont mean ROR :help:

Stefan Elliott played his best game last night for the Avs in his short 4 game NHL career. He has been paired with Greg Zanon. Elliott is a right handed shot. Hedja-Barrie. Hunwick-O'Bryne. O'Brien is still a healthy scratch. Elliott looked lost until last night against the Ducks. If not Barrie, then Elliott.

To paraphrase (White Plains) Batman,

holy due diligence, RB!

separate play for Elliot worth discussing.
Is he a less experienced, cheaper Paul Postma?
