I'm with you here.. sure he doesn't skate like Bergeron does.. but he can become a 50-60 point 2 way player like Bergeron has been most of his career and yet is considered elite.

damn it, you people are making me defend this guy and he's on my **** list. come on.

My list of "ELITE" ...

Crosby, Getzlaf, Tavaras, Malkin, Pakelski, Giroux, Datsyuk, Thornton, Toews, Bergeron ... the others are one tier down.

still don't understand how Bergeron is elite. 50-60 points with 2 great (and he's great defensively) 2 way play is now elite.?
 
The real truth is this ... you guys do not think Stepan will ever be an elite center ... which is fine, I think he's a solid #2. And I understand that we have a void on that first line center ... I just don't think restructuring the team (by trading our young guys) to try and fill that void is a smart idea. Do we need a good centerman (preferably one who will be here for 5-7Y) YES ... But we have to be careful how we acquire that.

What if we did like Boston and acquired very very good centers instead of just an elite one?.. Boston is so good because they have very good players up and down their roster, but how many do they have that are in the echelon of elite?

He could have been on the second tier ... I gave him the benefit of the doubt. The drop off from elite to that second tier is far IMHO. If you want to be "elite" you should be a super star who can carry a team.
 
A new thread needs to be made or something because a lot of these post have nothing to do with rumors and speculation..can we please stay on topic

I kind of like what we have in Derick Brassard, Derek Stepan, and eventually J.T. Miller ... do I think a top notch center would be nice because that would push Stepan back to a true 2, and the rest follow suit? ie: Richards will be bought out.

bc you dont need elite centers..

boston is the team we should try to build like.. whe have berg or krejci put up more then 60pts?

great team and 2way centers..

we get kesler and have kesler and stepan as our top 2 centers.. look out, we're on our way..

stepan gets so much hate, but the dude is so smart and under appreciated for what he brings..everyone looks at pts and that only tells half the story..

but keslers a dream.. stepan, brass and miller is fine by mee
 
What happened to that Callahan guy we were talking about? Did he resign? Get traded? I cant tell from any of these posts....
 
My prediction, nothing happens until Wed afternoon. Not just for Cally, but for everyone.

I think if Cally isn't signed by Tues morning he's gonna be traded but to somewhere totally random out of left field (Minnesota or Montreal or some place like that).
