This completely changes my perception of the Rangers' season. MSL is a franchise player, a game-breaker, an elite talent.

My body is ready.

Bobby Mac just said on NBC Sports that the sense is the Rangers and Girardi are closing in on a 6 year deal worth 5.5 per but it's not done yet.

Thats the GM's job.

Instead hes chasing a 38 year old. Its pretty frustrating.

As I said earlier, I hope all options are still on the table and this doesn't become a long-term soap opera and infatuation like the Nash situation

Everything we're discussing is the GM's job, but we all still have ideas.

My argument is that these other options don't seem to exist. People want them to be pursued, but people also have used a bunch of different answers to avoid naming any of these players. With today's technology and all the stuff we as fans all know about pretty esoteric players, if there's someone out there who fits the bill, we can and should able to name them. Again, who is there that fits this bill? What prospect owned by a team that is looking for a rental Callahan is both enough of a good thing to be confident he'll play in the NHL and also not enough of a sure thing that the team that owns him will trade him for months of Callahan?

Situations like these become long-term soap operas because they can lead to a team getting a great asset for far less than that asset is worth. Nash commanded a ransom. MSL is older, signed for less time, and seemingly only wants to come to NYR. Not taking advantage of that situation for a guy who is putting put he kind of offense MSL is would be silly in my opinion. I'm not saying get him at any cost, but get him at a reasonable cost that you can live with. He's put himself in a position that benefits this franchise hugely. You gotta take advantage of those situations if you're lucky enough to come across them.

If my dad was capable of using a computer I'd be convinced you're him. He's giddy about MSL and likely so, his favorite Rangers have always been good ones though. Big Nemchinov fan.

that is a great deal.. why cant Callahan be reasonable?? :shakehead

I am literally flabbergasted. I never thought this was real. Now the serious question is, what does it cost? The Rangers can't move their 1st after having no picks last year.

Prospect? An NHL dman? Will Sather offer anything worthwhile knowing this is the only place he wants to go?
