imo a healthy Gaborik fits this style of play a lot more than Callahan does. He would get along with AV swimmingly, but some people will ***** about it, and for good reason.

I would ***** because of injuries, but Gaborik is an upgrade offensively.

I would also ***** because it's Columbus. Seriously, the Rangers need to stop that. I'm starting to like the Blue Jackets a little too much.
 
Not saying the Rangers should go anywhere near 7x 6.875 for Callahan but I think a lot of folks around here are going to miss him a lot more than they think they will when he's gone.

Ditto on all counts.

It would really bother me to see the "Pack Line" doing well for them, in the east, vs us 6x a year, also as playoff competitors.

Like. Really bother me. Kind of ultimate slap in the face after all the isht we've put up with the past 25+ years I've been watching.
 
I would miss the Hell out of Callahan. Don't want to trade him, personally. But it's like a triple bypass. You don't at all want to do it. You hate that you have to. But you do have to in order to keep on ticking.
 
I have no idea about the previous poster's source and I have no idea about what Boomer has heard, but I thought I'd just point out that his "1-for-1 maybe including a pick" and "offense" and "eastern" tweets all jibe with the MSL deal rumored a couple of pages back...

I personally would flip my lid if the deal originally outlined went down as suggested.
 
I don't care if it got us to the SCF. Just the whole transaction process from aquiring Nash, to trading Gaborik, to who know what goes down this week if Gabby for Cally ever did happen.

It would be a sad state of affairs. And I'd seriously have to question our Managment teams thought process.
 
Gaborik doesn't make sense for a variety of reasons. The Rangers are trading Cally now because they don't want to lose him for nothing on July 1. Aside from the obvious injury issues, why would they trade for Gaborik, who is also a rental and may walk for nothing as well? They might as well just keep Cally then. If Cally is being traded, he absolutely he has to be traded for some sort of asset that is under team control beyond this year.

May very well be someone else, but it sure fits the bill. Purely speculation. No one has said it is even rumored to be Gaborik.

Well we can cross off the Flyers, Isles and Devils, (maybe Pens as well?), now what teams would actually be interested in Cally? Which of those have players the Rangers would be interested in?

I don't disagree, but someone threw out his name and for the sake of talking trade I think it's fair to weigh out some options from plausible to far fetched.

Most likely it's not going to be, but when the rumor says: "Shocking" and "Surprising", It's always fun to speculate.

Even with the conditional pick, it doesn't make sense because there is still a strong likelihood that the Rangers will have traded for Cally with nothing to show for it after the season ends. I get that the Gaborik thing is purely speculation but it isn't really in line in what the Rangers have been rumored to be looking for in a deal for Callahan, such as Stewart + from the Blues which would provide the team with a player and possibly more that would be under team control for next season as well.

Tough to come up with trading partners in the East that are, essentially, our competitors. It's not like we're out of it.

Atkinson + conditional 1st/2nd or something like that CBJ's?

Yeah don't like that last tweet, unless he means most would be upset at trading Callahan, not the actual return. One can hope that's the case at least.
