I have been saying for a while.

Stewart + Schmaltz + EDM 2nd/STL 1st

It makes sense for the now and the future.

Backes and Callahan have been playing together in the Olympics. Thank you Bylsma.

I'd do this deal immediately.

If Zuccarello has a broken hand, it could potentially change things.

So NYR would get 2 Players and a pick for Callahan. If the Blues want to do that, I would say go for it.
It's worth noting that Stewart plays on the 1st line in St. Louis with Backes and Steen.

Good point, forgot about that.

It's also worth noting that that's not true. Maybe at some point he has played with Backes and Steen, but neither of them is in his top 10 icemates on the season. His most frequent linemates have been Derek Roy and Brenden Morrow.

How does Cally stack up v Moulson/Vanek; those 2 will probably decrease what leverage Slats has in trade possibilities. Teams know what Cally can do in SC playoffs. Moulson was ok (3pts in 6 g) last year, and Vanek has 20pts in36g. I think Vanek sets the market w/Cally next than Moulson

he did sit out today's practice as the hand, which is not fractured, is bruised and swollen. He apparently also had trouble gripping his stick
Apparantly Lundqvist was also possibly injured during practice,
injury scare for Henrik Lundqvist as Erik Karlsson barrelled into him during practice this morning, Lundqvist skated over to the boards and watched the rest of practice, declining to speak with reporters after it.
A team doctor says Lundqvist is "fine."

Wait, what? What did I miss? When did this happen! I take a break from the board and **** hits the fan!

Total speculation. Info is that it's swollen and not fractured after MZA blocked a shot with his hand vs. Austria. Still, he's a guy the NYR can ill-afford to lose for any time whatsoever.

I love this years Olympic hockey but I pray it is the last time nhl ho guys go,, it makes zero reward to nhl. For all the risk they take

I'd be very happy with that return. Make it conditional: Edmonton's 2nd that becomes the Blues' 1st if they make the SCF.

I'd love this trade. Makes sense for STL.

If Sather keeps Cally for this "snowballs chance in hell run" and then he walks for nothing in June, the franchise will get exactly what it deserves going forward.

More mediocrity and plenty of it.

And if we trade Cally for a mediocre prospect and a 28-30 overall pick we will get what exactly? Enlighten us!

The US / Russia game was watched by a huge number of people and has been the focus of more mass media treatment than any NHL game I can remember in a long, long time. That's a reward.

Yup, this year's Winter Classic on NBC garnered 4.4 million viewers.

U.S. / Russia *non-medal* game on *NBCSN* had a peak of almost 6.5 million viewers during the shootout. Of course that helps the NHL and hockey.

Because the US was playing Russia. The former Soviet Union. Miracle on Ice. It was more than a hockey game.

Exactly. They have the pieces to replace Stewart. He is redundant on their team. No on the Rangers.

The Rangers get a young puck mover and a pick which will be good either way.

A young puck mover who is 2.5-3.5 years away from being able to step into the NHL if he even makes an NHL roster.

A 3rd line winger who will have to be traded or extended at an extended premium in a few years.

A fringe 1st round pick, good 2nd round pick that may or may not turn out to be Boo Nieves - a guy who is a project who may or may not make a team.

For:

A current 2nd line winger, who would be an ideal candidate on ANY playoff team, who happens to be our captain, on a team that currently can be argued as the 3rd best team in the East...

Makes perfect sense for the Blues. Makes... little sense for us.

I am sure Putin bought a few X-ray machines as part the $50 billion spent to make Sochi into an Olympic venue. You would think the Norway training staff had the hand x-rayed.

And the last time a huge number of people watched USA hockey it was because it was the gold medal game. That was more than a hockey game too. But, it was also a hockey game, and those people did watch it. There's a story behind any good game that a bunch of people watch, that doesn't mean it's not good publicity for the sport.
