I'm not happy about the prospect of 6x6 with him, but I really don't think it's the end of the world scenario it's being blown up into here. At all. This team isn't a bunch of old men - they'll improve even if "nothing changes" because they're are good young players here and they're going to get better like most good young players do.

You can call it groupthink but in reality it is what is best for the team. Just because a majority of us happen to see that doesn't mean at all that it is groupthink or the mob mentality. We see it for what it is. A potentially albatross contract for a player who has had a meh year and may or may not end up like Chris Drury in 2 - 3 years. I like Callahan and would wouldn't mind him at 5 years x 5-5.5 million. That would be the absolute most. More than 6 million for 6 years? Absolutely not.
