The original 5 years 30 mil offer we made would have been ridiculous. He's not worth 5 mil honestly and no more than 3 years tops.

@NHLRumorsDaily: I've been informed that Cally's camp had countered with 6 years 6.5AAV.
i pray if we trade for st louis Miller isnt going the other way!!

The fact he didn't take the 6x6 and then countered with another equally bad offer really tells me it's all for show and dear lord, sweet mother of god, and all things holy please let me be correct.
His idea of softened is still over/at 6 million and 6 years. No thank you.
But the captain, believed to have reduced his asking price from seven years at $47 million to six years at just under $42 million, still too rich for the Rangers, said he hadn’t given that a thought leading into or during the match in which he had one assist, four shots, two hits and a minus-two rating in 17:44.
I know it's not happening but if we could get gabby back for cheap like Callahan + that'd be amazing.
No it wouldn't.
That would be a major waste of assets.
Another fading RW that is physically incapable of doing what he used to do.
That would be the complete opposite of amazing.
The idea of softening is 6 years and about $42M

Callahan and Sather don't want to be the bad guys. Blame the other guy.
4 years since he was drafted and still isn't ready
And what does that mean?
talk to me if he's not a regular every day defenceman when he's 25 (which for defenceman is still pretty damn young)
Defencemen in general take longer to develope than forwards.
4 years and Dylan not being ready is not even in the top 10 things that are affecting the Rangers right now.
I can only hope this "softening" is for appearances on each side.
"We really tried to get a deal done."
I have a nagging suspicion he will be signed for $6.3M x 6. The Rangers really do t have the balls to do anything different.
This won't make me feel much better, but is it possible that signing him would be a business move? Maybe there are no moves to be made and it's easier to extend him than to explain to the casual fan that the great captain left for nothing.
Agreed on all points including Tarasenko. He'd have a bunch of NHL under his belt already if he were a Sabre or Panther prospect. He'll be fine. We've been through this so many times...Staal made the lineup three years after his draft date, McD 3 and a 1/2 years after his, and Sauer was a full five years, and all three of those D-men were much more polished than McIlrath was. The only D-man this team ever rushed was MDZ. But, who needs to look at the evidence...HE'S A BUST!!!! (And, I'm someone who wanted Tarasenko at that spot.)
