I can see Teflon royally ****ing this up. "oh we didn't like any offers so we decided to keep Ryan for the playoff push and will continue talks throughout the spring". Then lose him for nothing.

As much as these last two games are a wake up call if the Rangers do not make the playoffs they have nobody to blame but themselves. Take a look at their schedule. There are no games left with teams that are clearly better than them.

They need to figure out what to do with Stralman/McIlrath. If the plan is to give McIlrath 3rd pair mins next season then trade Stralman don't let him walk for nothing. If they re-sign Stralman that's telling me it'll be 5 years, 5 years since McIlrath was drafted and he's still not ready. Have to wonder when you can officially call it a mistake pick.

I wouldnt call it a mistake pick. The kid brings a skill set this team sorely lacks and is still fairly young. He has had some injuries that set him back but from what Ive heard he is coming along. Id give him one more year before he is a mistake pick.

To your other point, with 2/3rds of the right side locked up for at least the next 4 years you have to wonder what they plan to do with McI/Stralman. Seems like Allen could be in the mix as well. Stralman is going to want more than a 1 year deal which would create a serious log jam at RD. McI/Allen arent going to bump Moore out at LD either as he is our closest thing to a "PMD".

Stralman has been playing 3rd pair the past two games. Do they flip him for some picks and let Allen play bottom pair with Moore? I dont think McI is ready just yet. I would be ok moving McI in a deal for a big nasty forward prospect. Trade a strength for a weakness.

McIlrath is 21.

Expecting the rumors to really heat up today, but other than that I expect nothing.

When you say rumors, you mean fabricated scenario's from 14 year old twitter twerkers, eh?

This is exactly how I feel....This guy plays NOTHING like he did his first few years here.

He has gone from noticeable every game to completely invisible, people need to let go of what he liked about him years ago and see the player we have today...He is not worth any thing close to 6 million

Exactly, not only has his offensive game fallen off a cliff, so had his patented energy game. If the guy scored on his chance on the PP, it's a different game. Ditto the Flyers game, ditto Oilers game. Plus he doesn't bring anything in any other aspect anymore.

Think it's a bit more than that this time;

When I see people posting links to the investigative research they've done on Twitter, it makes me wonder. Sure there are going to be some trades, but there's a lot of nonsense brewing that guys here are taking seriously.

Want me to create a twitter account and show you how much hype I can generate?!? :D

Or the middle aged men working for various news outlets who do the same thing but get paid for it. When I say rumors, I means rumors. The source only dictates the level of believability by the people listening.

Yes, actually. Considering you will start with no followers, and with the amount of nonsense already floating around, you'll create little to no hype at all.

Two people posted random tweets in the past 10 hours talking about how a St. Louis deal was close. Barely anyone here blinked an eye.

I don't think anyone here is taking much of anything seriously at the moment. Including all the media pushing Callahan resigning.

4 years since he was drafted and still isn't ready

He's one of 13 or so picks from the 2010 first round that aren't "ready." Including guys like Tinordi, Forbort and Gormley. Then you have a guy like Pysyk that wouldn't play in the NHL if he were with our organization. So basically half of the first round were bad picks? Maybe we ought to wait another year or two, particularly when evaluating guys that were drafted as projects.

No doubt, Boom Boom. People love to play games this time of year, for reasons that escape me.
That's why it's a good thing they try to moderate this place and limit the b.s. that might appear.
Same time, they shouldn't limit my b.s. LOL.
Cause it's not; and I'd refer you to my previous remarks.

I share your frustration but this exact scenario is what I feel is going to happen. It looks as if Glen either has to lower his demands as far as trades go. (I'm not someone on the inside but GMs are probably offering 2nd or 3rd picks and/or a short term bad contract back to the Rangers...again I don't know. Callahan's value to the Rangers is higher than to any other team). So Glen, rather than take a weaker return on Callahan will go into the playoffs with this roster and likely let him walk in July.

A buyout of Richards with Callahan potentially off the books would open up some significant cap space. I can't quantify what this means in terms of team chemistry and how it affects the Rangers. It does give the Rangers an opportunity to balance the roster.

Cally is gone one way or another.

No way he can live up to the type of contract he is going to get in NY. Fans will tire of him in a NY minute.

@NHLRumorsDaily: I've been informed that Cally's camp had countered with 6 years 6.5AAV.

Just be advised, there's a certain amount of CYA that can come into play; a deal (trade) could already be done.

Cally's camp may want the option of saying they came down and into the ballpark, just for appearances sake.

End of the day, that's about double what Cally should have been offered, IMO.
I wouldve offered 3yrs, $18m and been done with it;
But there's a lot of choreography that goes on.

We've been through this so many times...Staal made the lineup three years after his draft date, McD 3 and a 1/2 years after his, and Sauer was a full five years, and all three of those D-men were much more polished than McIlrath was. The only D-man this team ever rushed was MDZ. But, who needs to look at the evidence...HE'S A BUST!!!! (And, I'm someone who wanted Tarasenko at that spot.)
