HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread 92 Waiting on the DRAFT Edition

You also shouls get your calculator out cause you'll have to extend Hutson, Demidov, Montembeault and Matheson before that contract ends. If you are stuck in a position where you must get rid of him to extend those guys it will cost you minimum a 1st. 4 years is too long for a player his age.
Nobody on this team is going to take more than the captain. It's becoming a wealthy set of stars taking a bit less to enjoy success and a happier life.

It's time to make a pitch to Connor McDavid

Maybe he was wearing a Habs pyjama when he was a kid?

I don’t think it’s just about money for McDavid. It’s about Cups and his legacy. Looking at teams who could fit him, the Habs have a need for a top 6 center and the means to acquire him. And they’re ready to roll with a young, deep roster. Don’t think for a second that players don’t notice what’s going on in Montreal and there’s nothing like winning in Montreal.

Matt Duchene is currently making 3 million per season in Dallas. He will be 34 in the off-season and a UFA.

This is his last 4 seasons stat lines.

78 GP - 43G-43A = 86P
71 GP - 33G-34A = 56P
80 GP - 25G-40A = 65P
67 GP - 26G-42A = 68P

He is PPG this year.

What do you guys think about a 3 year contract at 7 million for Duchene to entice him out of Dallas? It'll take us to the end of Demidov's ELC and Hage should have fully arrived by then to take his place. A veteran presence as the 2nd line centre would be excellent for Demidov and a calming influence on Laine.

Slaf - Suzuki - Caufield
Laine - Duchene - Demidov
Heinemen - Dach - Newhook
Anderson - Evans - Gally

Wasn’t Duchene one of the main guys caught in the Uber dissing his coaches and such? Not too sure he is a KH type of culture guy. If all it was that he sometimes mails it in, I think that if management thought he would fit in to the room the rest of the team could have impact on him, but that Uber ride, plus being a lousy tipper may be the sort of story going around about him.

His current contract also finishes along with CBA, so I assume he waits till the end to understand his opportunities. He might also end like Marian Hossa, once he lost that second consecutive finals, he and his agent prepared a booklet of top 5 teams where they basically analyzed them by salary structure, team strenght, prospect pool... and decided to sign with Chicago winning 3 cups there.
If McDavid takes the same approach, we have to be on top of the list, right?

We can deal with that, he's the perfect center archetype for Demidov to come play with.
I agree.

He still has 6 years on his contract. We would hope he can give us 4-5 years of quality 2C hockey than finishing his contract on the 3rd line for the last year or 2. Hoping Hage can take the pole on the 2nd line.

I'd argue only you would hang on to that story about a young kid needing to mature and assume he has been stuck in time ever since.
